Maoz Vegetarian

Sorbonne, Paris
02/12/2024: Small restaurant, but very good food and fast service. I recommend...
18/11/2024: Adorable little falafel shop tucked in an alleyway near Notre Dame and Ste. Chapelle. Has some stools at the bar and a few 2-seat dinette tables. Falafel and fries are made to order so hot and fresh! You add sandwich or salad toppings yourself from the buffet. A good selection of salsas and tahini too. The spicy green saucr one was a pleasant surprise; some kind of green leaf chutney with chilies mixed in. After saying bonjour, the staff spoke French, but repeated in English when they sensed my French is not fluent. Very friendly, yummy food, good portions, well located.

Le Grenier de Notre Dame

Sorbonne, Paris
06/12/2025: It boasts of being the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Paris, and it's probably true. In any case, one thing is certain: the quality of the food and service fluctuates considerably, but the prices... well, they're relatively high. We were a good-sized group (6, including 3 vegetarians), upstairs, in a rather small restaurant. So it filled up quickly and quickly became... noisy. Some opted for the daily specials (go for them, it's safer), others for the regular menu – like me. What a disappointment to see a "Berber" platter arrive, which I felt had been plated by a kitchen assistant lacking inspiration, where what should have been hot was lukewarm and what should have been fresh... wasn't necessarily. The hummus was of average quality, the falafels were a meager portion and barely warm. A large plate was used to hold all of this, and the lack of care, combined with the rather stingy portions, gave an impression of emptiness. And for the price they're asking (€19.90), it stings. The daily specials my companions were eating seemed much more generous and substantial... not to mention the flavor, which seemed much more pronounced. Yes, the neighborhood isn't exactly cheap, yes, the ambiance comes at a price (even though you don't have a view of Notre Dame), yes, vegetarian ingredients (organic or not) cost more, but just because you're vegetarian doesn't mean you should be ripped off.
06/12/2025: Just steps from Notre Dame in Paris's historic district, the welcome is warm and the conversations with the friendly staff are interesting. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! (vegetarian cassoulet and carrot cake); we highly recommend it.
