Extraordinarily efficient and well-oiled service. Moderate wine prices.

Great evening: attentive waiter, mother-in-law celebrated her 80th birthday in a superb atmosphere. We arrived early with a reservation but one more person, everything was sorted out in 30 seconds. Thank you, it was perfect! We're not going to wait a year to come back.

Great entry service and a nice throwback to the Roaring Twenties. The service is great (many servers who all come to serve us at the same time each time) and the presentation of the dishes is careful. However, the food is really mediocre compared to the price. The tartare came with slightly soft fries, a little worse than a usual kebab. The tartare wasn't bad, but at €19.50 I would have wanted more than just raw minced meat (a somewhat daring mixture of aromatic herbs, a homemade béarnaise to accompany the fries? etc.). The cocktail (Moscow mule) was okay, but once again weak in flavors (ginger this time). For a restaurant that presents so well, it's a shame to have food that's worth half the price you pay. Also, I think it was bad luck and not something systematic, but our waiter was a little bitter, and would leave without saying a word if we didn't say what drink we wanted within 5s (he lna made twice for the cocktails, and once for the wines, a friend therefore did not have a cocktail, and we therefore did not consume any wine, it is a shame for us and for the restaurant). Also, the bench with its old springs that we feel is really poor quality, perhaps we should think about redoing it in a more qualitative way.

Hello, one of the last Grande BRASSERIES in Paris created by Auvergnats. A superb place which will soon be 100 years old. Well done LES BOUGNATS!

L'Etoile de Montmartre

03/05/2024: Waited a few days before posting this review to make some comparisons. We had the cordon Bleu which was quite overdone, as well as the risotto which was actually crunchy and underseasoned. We had these dishes at other locations without these issues. If you're in the area, better options can be found within a block in any direction
30/04/2024: Away from the tourist restaurants, we fell into the heart of local life with a smiling welcome! Accompanied by our two daughters, we had a great time!

Bateau le Calife

14/05/2024: Amazing Experience! The service was excellent, food was exceptional, and it was a smooth comfortable ride as we experienced the city at night. It was the highlight of our trip to Paris!
14/05/2024: We took a trip to Paris for our 30th anniversary since it's our favorite city. I've never been tempted to have dinner on one of the boats on the Seine - they seem glitzy, all glass and chrome, and very touristy. But we wanted to do something special for an anniversary dinner. I hunted around and found Calife. It's certainly not glitzy. It feels like an intimate Parisian cafe/restaurant, not like a tourist destination. It's calm and quiet with lovely soft jazz playing discretely in the background. The boat has a lot of character to it - much more pleasing than the large modern ones that float the Seine. When I made the reservation I mentioned it was our 30th anniversary and we'd appreciate a nice table if possible. Well, we got the best table in the place - literally. We were the fore-most table on the boat with a totally unobstructed view of the city. When it came time for desert they delivered it with sparklers for candles, remembering our anniversary. I had the pastry tart with chanterelles and foie gras. It was absolutely one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. No exaggeration. I had the lamb shoulder, which is listed as the chef's specialty. It was so tender I could just use a fork to eat it, no need for a knife it was so tender. I wasn't thrilled with my desert - the apple upsidedown tart. It was nothing special - but the caramel ice cream was excellent. I ate half the tart and all the ice cream. My husband had the goat cheeses tart with honey, sea bass with lemon tarragon, and an apple tart (different from the one I ordered). He loved his meal but said the ambiance and quality of the cruise was the high point. It's expensive, but when you subtract out what the river tour would cost on its own, it falls more in line with the pricing of a fine dining restaurant. I'd totally recommend it - especially for a special occasion. EDIT: We recently visited Paris and went on Le Calife again. It was just as nice an experience as the first time. Still totally recommend it.
