03/09/2024: I treated myself to a night in a hotel with my lover, with my birthday fund, for my 40th birthday. When we arrived at 3:45 p.m., the room was not ready. We ask if we can already use the swimming pool, we are told no (for 15min!!!!). The room was clean, spacious, bright and comfortable. Clarisse who took us there was adorable (thanks to her).
In the evening, we go up to the rooftop for a drink, the overwhelmed service tells us to find a free table. The QR code for ordering on the table does not work. My husband goes to order at the bar and returns with the drinks (our table had not been cleared).
Then, we decide to go eat at the restaurant on the ground floor. We are told that it is closed, that we must go to the rooftop restaurant, which is full and overwhelmed, or order roomservice.
We call from the room: there is a 45 minute wait. Tired, I go to bed and at 11 p.m., my husband wakes me up, I thought it was earlier: we still haven't been served, he called roomservice 3 times who said they would offer us the meal to compensate for an hour and a half of waiting .
The tray finally arrives: the food was catastrophic. Caesar salad with bagged iceberg lettuce, overcooked or not very fresh hard-boiled egg, industrial parmesan (for more than 20 euros), bowl of fromage blanc for €9 without accompaniment. The Club sandwich was served with a salad of bad, limp baby spinach, bathed in sauce, soggy bread and we had 2 quarters of a sandwich.
The next morning we were able to enjoy a very good breakfast, fresh, plentiful, well presented and with good service.
But while we were enjoying the last moments, we received the bill at fast check out (very good method to avoid going back to reception and complaining!) with 80 euros from Roomservice contrary to what was announced to us.
My husband went to reception to report his dissatisfaction, there was a lunar episode "Who did you have last night at roomservice?" as if we had the schedules. In the end, the hotel agreed to implement the commercial gesture announced by telephone and to let us enjoy the room for 2 more hours.
Once we left, we had a new bill with a 25 euro treatment billed from the SPA, which I never did, I had to call the hotel back, who told me "we will check with the SPA" ... and the latter was refunded to me, because with bank direct debit it is very easy to let errors slip through.
I have been to all types of hotels, but in my life, I have never seen a 5 star with such deplorable service. The place is grandiose, magical, we were truly amazed. But the experience with this service marred the stay. Really. Without making any diva whim or anything else, I found that it was not up to par with the location, the standing or the prices charged.
I know it's complicated to find staff right now, but it wasn't right to have so little information, from people who are aware of what's going on. We felt left to our own devices, and if we had known that the restaurant was not open, we would have gone elsewhere.
I hope I can come back one day and change my opinion about the experience, because I loved swimming and sleeping there. The view in the morning is magnificent.
03/09/2024: The hotel was good but not at the expected level for a five star.
At reception, no explanation, neither on breakfast times, nor on access to the swimming pool or spa.
In the corridors, there were constantly washing dishes and cleaning trolleys blocking the passage.
The room is very comfortable but some equipment is missing or some were insufficient (no bottle opener for drinks from the mini bar, no USB socket, poor quality hair dryer, the bathrobes are small).
Too bad we can't open the windows to see the pool better.
The room was poorly soundproofed: we heard our neighbors a lot.
Friendly staff. Quick check-in and check-out.
Very good breakfast.
