13/03/2024: It's an izakaya, a restaurant serving REAL Japanese dishes, not European-style sushi.
A cuisine as tasty and sought-after as ever. Real traditional recipes (poteto salada, gyoza, etc.).
The previous owner retired and returned to Japan, the new team is charming and dynamic, they speak Japanese with the regulars! The decor has been completely revised and modernized but the menu and suggestions remain as high quality as ever. For me, it remains the best Japanese restaurant in Lyon.
The bill may seem steep but it's well worth it.
Be careful, I repeat, this is not a sushi restaurant, even if they have some on the menu... Go ahead if that's what you're looking for.
09/03/2024: Everything was delicious, from the chirashi to the green tea chocolate fondant. The service was there! Very pleasant atmosphere we will come back to taste the rest of the menu :)

The setting is magnificent, the atmosphere is very pleasant.
The food is delicious and nothing like what you find in other restaurants that serve sushi.

14/05/2024: I tried to enter this restaurant to eat. The room is half empty, four or five tables unset. About ten customers. I'm alone, we look around the room trying to resolve this insoluble problem, we seem bored so they invite me to eat at the bar: so I leave. Deplorable welcome
13/05/2024: It's good and not so expensive at lunchtime and the room is quite quiet and without music thank you but the portions are not very generous and the katsudon and the best haiku

The service is impeccable, the smells delicious and the dishes succulent. It smells of quality, passion and the pleasure of hosting at Japontori. I recommend you go there with your eyes closed :)

The view of the grills is very nice and you really feel the mastery of the cook!
The food is really very good, we ate really well and although we didn't eat much, we were very full when we left!

10/05/2024: Very nice restaurant with warm decoration. The room is quite small so it is best to book in advance if you want to eat there, it also gets quite noisy quickly. Good value for money with what is served, quite a few choices on the menu. The only fault I find is the staff, the servers absolutely no mouse, which is a real shame. Other than that, I still recommend it.

05/05/2024: Fast service, excellent food but the setting of the restaurant and the atmosphere is quite ordinary which is a shame for the location of the restaurant in Lyon.
30/04/2024: Very good Japanese specialties with a large choice and very affordable prices
The only downside was that they had forgotten our reservation for 6 people but found a solution.
We will come back !
