Le 26 sur Avignon

Less than a month ago, and during our journey through Southern France, we had the opportunity to enjoy Le 26. In fact we ate dinner twice in the same week. What attracted us to this restaurant was the Lamb Shank in the menu. An added bonus was that they open at 6:30pm for dinner, a bit earlier than most places. Le 26 is located in a small square around some narrow streets behind the TI office in Avignon. It could be somewhat difficult to locate. It has a small outside seating area, but nobody sat there. On the week of our visit a strong wind seemed to be blowing at all times. The Lamb was delicious, but it was not just that, it was also the Watercress Cream, and the Avocado Toast and Samosa appetizers. The "Esprit" Cotes du Rhones red wine, and the "Pensee Sauvage" rose, were great. BTW, Le 26 was one of the few restaurants in which we ordered a 1/2 liter wine bottle without breaking the bank. Our experiences above were not what we call "cheap", the bills came to be around 45-50 euros/person, but we feel it was all worth it. We have nothing but good comments for the service and personal attention received.

Very nice experience in this restaurant. Very friendly and efficient service in a pleasant room. We had cocktails which were very good and well executed, I recommend! Regarding the dishes, we have no negative comments to make, all were particularly VERY good, especially the starters, a delight. The only downside (but does not lower the overall rating) is a "slightly" high price, but which is offset by the quality of the establishment.

Ce sont les nombreux avis positifs qui m’ont incité à dîner dans cet excellent restaurant au coeur d’Avignon. Une décision judicieuse car je me suis effectivement régalé dans une ambiance sympathique. Un grand bravo pour l’accueil et le service très souriants et sympathiques, cela compte énormément dans la réussite d’un repas. Tout autant que l’accueil, la cuisine a été excellente. En entrée je me suis régalé de samossas de boeuf bien croustillants sans être trop gras. En plat j’ai choisi la spécialité de l’établissement: souris d’agneau rôtie 7h. La portion était tout aussi délicieuse que généreuse. Enfin, j’ai terminé par une poire pochée aux agrumes - un dessert léger et très parfumé. L’addition reste dans la moyenne locale. Etant donné l’accueil sympathique et la qualité des plats, le rapport qualité-prix s’avère très bon et je reviendrai certainement avec grand plaisir.
