Au Delice du Bois sur Hirson

We arrived around 1 p.m., and the waitress informed us there might be a bit of a wait as the restaurant was full and they had a lot of grilled dishes scheduled. We had plenty of time! And we were glad we waited! (And in the end, it wasn't as long as we expected!). The food was very good, excellent value for money, and our coffee was on the house! We congratulated the waitress who was managing the dining room single-handedly due to staff shortages! She was very competent and patient with the customers! Our compliments were heard by the owner, who also offered us a digestif. This restaurant serves quality meals, welcomes you with competence and simplicity, and the prices are fair. We highly recommend it.

A truly beautiful dish; the meat was so tender it cut like butter... A real feast for the eyes and the taste buds... You can go there without hesitation, because I'll gladly return...

We were very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant; everything was perfect. We opted for the starter and main course and were not disappointed. The quality and quantity were both excellent. The lady who served us was very pleasant. We will definitely be back!

Always top-notch!! He handles wood-fired cooking like no one else, and the stews are a delight. Everything is delicious and very generous.

Hello, we went to this small brasserie and had booked a table about two weeks in advance for three adults. When we arrived, the exterior was inviting... to say the least, and the service staff didn't reflect the atmosphere of the place. We went to a table for three, and were told no, it was for two, in a rather unpleasant tone... oops... the atmosphere wasn't great upon arrival. We were seated in the small room on the right, which was quite pleasant (during the meal, there were only two tables in this room). So, having an extra person didn't affect the service at all. We took our order, always with the same coldness... even unpleasantness. A small aperitif: two Picon beers and a carafe of water. They also brought us a sugary iced tea, which we hadn't ordered, but they insisted we had... oops... the service continued in the same tone. We almost got up and left. But... as customers... we had to give this brasserie a chance; it can't afford to suffer from unpleasant staff. We ordered three appetizers (charcuterie platters) and for our main courses... two beef bourguignons and chicken with Maroilles sauce. The meal was excellent... kudos to the kitchen... no waiting. Hot and piping hot service. Top-notch. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained, like the dining room... a changing area for babies... Excellent. Then came the time to pay... over a hundred euros for three people... it's expensive... but whatever... As for the payment, the person just kept going... The food isn't everything; the welcome is paramount. Coming from Maubeuge/Hautmont, just out for a stroll, a quick getaway... we won't be back... It's a shame because the place is worth returning to and trying the other dishes.

A pleasant surprise. Tender, fresh meats, cooked over a real wood fire, giving the meat an unusual charm and flavor. As for the side dishes, seasonal vegetables were deliciously prepared. The staff is welcoming and friendly.
