This historic place is magnificent!!! Very beautiful view of the city and the Pyrenees after 124 steps!!!!

I couldn't visit it due to lack of time but the view alone impressed me quite a bit.

On a hill south of the city, he began to build a palace surrounded by gardens which was completed in 1309. It was built in twenty-five years. It is located in the heart of the citadel of Perpignan. Long called the castle of Perpignan, it only found its name as the palace of the Kings of Majorca in the 19th century. Organized around three courtyards measuring 60 meters on each side, it is a Gothic-style fortress-palace. It is composed upon entering the tower of tributes, the room (banquets, reception, meetings, etc.), the first apartments of the king during construction. Opposite the entrance the first so-called lower or Queen's chapel and above on either side of the upper chapel the apartments of the King and Queen. On the sides are the outbuildings, stables and sheds. It houses in particular two superimposed chapels: a lower chapel, called the Queen's chapel, and a higher chapel, called the Sainte-Croix chapel, with a very beautiful pink marble portal, which has characteristics in common with the Sainte-Chapelle built a few decades earlier . This portal is Gothic visible by a base with right angles and sculptures well detached from the wall even if the top of the door is rounded. Inside the windows are Gothic as well as the vault. The chapel is accessible from both sides through the apartments of the queen (on the right) and the king (on the left). In the alcove which hides the King's door is a green frieze which uses Arabic writing to mean Allah "There is no God but God". It is a mixture of Arab-Hispanic culture with architecture evolving from Romanesque to Gothic.

Friendly staff, it is a defense tower like so many, it is not that it is very special but inside there are audiovisuals that help you understand the city. What we liked the most was all the old gates that it preserves. The worst: getting to the top of the stairs so that the roof door is closed. They could let you know below. Don't let them say it's because of the wind because the same day we climbed the keep of the Kings' Palace, much higher and on the top of the mountain.
