Le Punjab sur Rambouillet

An excellent place to enjoy Indian cuisine: we've been going there for several years and we've always loved it. A must-try if you haven't already! Well done to Naim and his team! 👍

The best Indian restaurant I've ever had. Atmosphere, decor, music, food—everything was perfect. A bonus: cloth tablecloths and napkins. Quick and friendly service. Excellent from start to finish.

Delicious Indian cuisine, subtly spiced, that warms the heart and delights the palate. The average price is a bit high, but the quality and quantity are excellent. The decor, like the dishes on the menu, transports you to Punjab.

The food is good, but very expensive for the small portions and the quality of the ingredients. €10 for canned button mushrooms with that industrial texture you'd expect... The service was very slow, but it was busy.

But where has the wonderful Biryani gone that my friend and I enjoyed for the past two decades? Where are the little multicolored candies mixed with spices in the elegant wooden box that held the bill? Having tasted dozens of biryanis since Punjab Rambouillet opened (and knowing full well that there are as many recipes as there are restaurants, or even Indian/Pakistani families), we always made a point of meeting at least once a year at this lovely restaurant to enjoy their famous Biryani, the best for miles around, in our opinion. Disappointment tonight: the recipe has changed; It's not bad, no, but it lacks richness, depth, a little something extra, spices, coriander. The sauce has been watered down, and the chef's secret must have gone with them because it's clearly not the same anymore! Despite the disappointment, I'm leaving 3 stars out of loyalty and for the pleasant experience I had, but I urge the owners to reconsider their reputation (which seems entirely justified given the consistently high number of customers on Friday nights!) and the quality of the food and service... Not bad, but clearly declining! And the subtle little touches have disappeared too. We'll come back to see if it's back to "the way it used to be" ;-)

Excellent restaurant, sumptuous cuisine, a truly enjoyable experience. The staff is excellent. A must-see restaurant, recommended to all.
