L’Oliveraie sur Colombelles

There was much potential, but unfortunately, my visit fell short. The location was very convenient for our business needs. We booked the meeting room and while aesthetically very nice, we were there during a very hot spell and although the meeting room was in a very new part of the hotel, the air conditioning was not functioning in any significant way and the room was quite hot (I estimate +35c as is was 40c outside and there was VERY little difference and there was no movement of the air). No additional fans were offered to provide any relief. It made our planned meeting quite unpleasant. I also ran into an issue with my room, where the "roller shutter" would not reopen, completely blocking my window/patio door. I asked about it twice and was never provided any update nor was it ever fixed. It meant that for much of my stay, I had no window or view outside of the room. The restaurant service was good, but the food was inconsistent. The steak I had for dinner was cooked to my liking, and the duck salad was fine, while not super interesting. Lunch the following day was the oddest club sandwich I have had. I believe it was pre-made. It was very thin, the toast was cold and soggy and there was a sauce of some sort drizzled on it. Possibly it's a regional confusion on my part, but all who ordered it, from several different countries, most from Europe, were taken aback by it. Breakfast was typical and fine. I feel like my experience was not typical, but I can only review what I experienced. I really wanted to like the place more than I did. I would have trouble recommending it, not due to the issues that arose, things happen, but due to the fact that very little was done to resolve the issues when brought to the attention of the staff.

This is the second time we've booked this hotel. We appreciate the warm welcome, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the easy parking.

I had lunch there for the first time today. A superb, well-hidden gem that truly deserves to be known. Delicious, with plenty of choice, fresh ingredients, and very generous portions! The staff were incredibly attentive, helpful, and always smiling. I'll definitely be back next time I have the chance :) 🙂 Well done to the whole team!
