L'Ours Noir is a must-visit at the Rouen Saint-Romain Fair. We've been going there for years; the roast pork platter is very generous, and the service is quick. Perhaps adding chairs for more comfort than the benches would be a plus.

Bad experience tonight at L’Ours Noir. Once the aperitif was served, the waitress took our food order only to be told that they were out of ham hock, or we could order a €28 meat platter to get some ham hock – unacceptable. Ham hock is supposedly a tradition at the Saint Romain fair, under the pretext that the fair closes tonight. Oddly enough, at other restaurants like Chez Francine and Au Feu de Bois, the ham hocks were cooked perfectly. It's a shame, we won't be going back.

A lovely establishment with very efficient and friendly staff. As for the food, the suckling pig portion was excellent. The portions were very generous.

"I went there and I highly recommend it: it was delicious, cooked over a wood fire. It's definitely worth a visit! However, don't go too late: it gets very crowded because it's a very popular place. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 And just so you know, the service is excellent."

Long wait, but incredible value for money.
We were right in the heart of the funfair.
The servers were overwhelmed but cheerful, the food was rich and plentiful.
There was shouting, crying, and laughter.
It was 100% laid-back and friendly.
We shared our tables with strangers.
It was joyful.
In short, it was great!
