Wine Bar sur Nimes

What a shame. I had really good reviews about this establishment. I noted that the service was perfect, with professional waiters. However, the food was a different story. For my starter, I ordered oysters, which were served in a soup plate, leaving the liquid at the bottom... One plate with two slices of wholemeal bread, vinegar, and butter on another plate. No presentation whatsoever, but €14 a plate. Then, for the main course, the menu listed lamb sweetbreads, a dish I adore.... Big mistake!!! The dish arrived barely warm; it tasted like reheated food, with two ladles of mashed potatoes dumped on top and a tablespoon of leeks in sauce. €28. Still no presentation. My sister-in-law sent back her pollock fillet because it was also cold. My wife ordered a steak with fries, which were very good, but the steak we ordered was overcooked. It arrived on a large white plate with no sauce offered and no presentation whatsoever. Considering the price, the dishes are not up to standard; the chef seriously needs to rethink his approach.

I found the formula to offer unbeatable value for money.

Friendly welcome, even without a reservation. We chose the daily special for €16, announced by the waitress as including a starter, main course, dessert, and a glass of wine. The portions were decent for the price, and we found the overall package acceptable. However, when it came time to pay, the bill came to €49 instead of the expected €32 (plus two extra coffees). Surprised, we asked for an explanation: the counter attendant initially responded somewhat haughtily before becoming more accommodating. We would have chosen another dish if the actual price had been clearly stated from the start. No goodwill gesture was offered. The meal was good, without being exceptional, and the dessert was rather average. A lack of professionalism from the staff is noteworthy.

A wonderful evening with good, honest food. It was wonderful to see how all the staff worked with such enthusiasm and professionalism. Next time, we'll also check out page 2 of the menu; we missed it. We enjoyed a lovely red wine with it, but next time we'll definitely seek advice on a nice bottle of red. Until next time. A restaurant as it should be.

One of if not the best restaurant in Nimes. Great menu. Friendly thoughtful staff and always great when the owner pitches in with the staff. The listed name of “Wine Bar” is a misnomer. It is a truly classic French restaurant and deserves every star

A superb discovery, a brasserie with the classics. Pig's trotters and homemade fries "le pied". Cod aioli was excellent according to my wife, who didn't let me try it.

The best of the best cuisine, excellent waiters and waitresses, and what can I say about the boss, happy to have seen Michel again, we will come back. Friend of our Fufu.

The food was no problem, it was a shame that the dishes were served before the end of the aperitif and that the waiter was unable to serve the wine requested and that it was served after the dishes arrived! Average service!

This restaurant is a bit like our headquarters in Nîmes; we go there very regularly and have never been disappointed. The menu changes every month, allowing us to discover new flavors, and the atmosphere is pleasant and friendly. When I have to recommend a good brasserie in Nîmes, it's the Wine Bar without hesitation.
