I have worked in catering and commerce for years and I have never seen this.
My partner and I who are regulars book for 8 p.m. with the only condition of not being able to choose our place depending on the crowd, when we arrive we are seated on a table of 4, we jump back and forth to avoid touching my partner, grimaces as he stares at him, the menus are thrown at us on the table. As if we were simple animals incapable of taking a menu in our hands
Then the restaurant manager comes to take our order. My partner is not a big eater, so I ask if it is possible to take the largest couscous and divide it in two. They stare at me and a wildly audacious exchange follows:
- He has taken a seat, sir, he must order a dish
- Very well we will take an extra brick for sir and a couscous for me in this case
- Ah well, that’s not possible, sir.
- I don't see what the problem is, we're just going to eat, I'm not going to take two dishes and throw away half of them.
- We're not making bricks this evening anyway.
- Ah… yet we always order bricks in the evening, for years and we have never been told that it is not possible.
- Yes, this evening I'm gone, that's all, so it's not possible. And I reserved a table of four for you so you understand
- No, I do not understand. I asked you to reserve for two, it was you who reserved a table of four, I didn't ask for anything. And I'm not going to order for 4 because you booked for 4.
And with these words the boss grabs one of his employees, speaks to him in Arabic and leaves without even trying to negotiate or make a commercial gesture or a proposal.
For a regular customer I am destitute.
It remains a quality restaurant with good quantities, but the reception was more than disappointing and abnormal.
Especially as a restaurateur, I would never allow myself to treat a customer like that and insinuate that he must financially meet the needs of my restaurant. The customer may not be king, but without him the business does not go far.
Shame on management and courage to employees if they suffer the same treatment as customers.

19/01/2024: Succulent dishes, from couscous to pastries, everything is excellent, as beautiful as they are delicious. Unbeatable quality/price ratio, two people eat a portion of couscous. I never get tired of it anymore. It's my little Sunday treat.
