24/05/2026: (RESTAURANT)
A huge disappointment. The evening had been planned for months. There were about 20 of us with a pre-arranged set menu. We booked for 7:00 PM and all arrived on time (the two latecomers arrived at 7:10 PM... not bad). The weather was magnificent, sunny, and we sadly discovered that our table had been awkwardly squeezed into the cellar, with BFM TV playing in the background (?) and no background music, nothing... We asked if we could be seated outside (both to get some fresh air and to make things easier for the staff), but it wasn't possible because "it's a table for tomorrow, so it's a no" (second time??).
The staff was understaffed. We understand, we're patient, and above all, we don't blame them. An hour after our arrival, we still hadn't received an aperitif… it was a long time, sitting at a table in a cellar for an hour without even a carafe of water. The meal went a little better; the appetizers and main courses followed each other fairly well. But we felt neglected, having to go back and forth between the cellar and the dining room to ask to be served several times… in the end, 40 minutes after dessert, no one had offered us coffee or come to ask if we wanted to pay; no one seemed concerned about how things were going. We'll definitely remember the bad.
7:00 PM to 11:45 PM is really a very long time. A shame.
What redeemed everything, because there were a few positive aspects:
- the quality of the food: we can't say we ate badly; that would be a lie. Excellent cuisine.
- The attitude of the extra waiter, there to help: he didn't let it get to him, did everything he could to make up for it, and even managed to smile despite the difficulties. He put in a tremendous effort, which was very kind. Thank you to him. Unfortunately, he disappeared mid-service, and the remaining staff weren't as pleasant.
- The kitchen/dining room teamwork: the staff was struggling, we all know how that feels, but they didn't give up, and one of the cooks bravely stepped up to help out – much appreciated.
We did everything we could to be pleasant; being in the business, we know the pressures of a busy schedule—it can be incredibly intense. We even cleared the plates ourselves and placed them on the side tables to make things easier for the servers (whom we unfortunately didn't see much of)... but relegating a table of 20 to the back of a cellar under the pretext that the next day's setup is already complete in weather like this, and consequently (of course) forgetting the customers who have to run back and forth to avoid being forgotten, is unacceptable, especially considering we booked the evening months in advance.
Fortunately, we were in good company and still had a pleasant evening together. Unfortunately, the nonchalance of the person present at checkout and the lack of consideration (none of the "regular" staff even asked us how we were) mean we don't feel like leaving a good review.
19/05/2026: I only visited the restaurant; the home-style cooking was very affordable, and I will definitely go back.
