Auberge la Chouette Restaurant sur Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via

We arrived at lunchtime when extensive road closures made it hard to get to... The delightful terrasse was full of diners under pale mauve umbrellas. We approached the owner (?) who flew into a torrent of negativity concerning the road closures, when all we wanted know was where to park nearby! After a few minutes, he calmed down and said there was a carpark 150m away, which was ideal.... I would suggest that a simple sign on the roadside with a blue 'P' logo and an arrow pointing towards the carpark with 150m would immediately let visitors who drive and find no parking, where they can leave their véhicules.. The meal from the menu of the day was excellent, well prepared on the outside Plancha that the owner used for many steaks etc. My dessert of Greengage (Reine Claude) Tart was delicious and homemade. After the rocky start, we really enjoyed our visit and were made more welcome. We didn't visit the rooms of the Auberge. Recommended.

La chouette is a very pleasant inn, the meals are delicious, homemade using fresh produce, a hearty breakfast, a perfect welcome. It was a beautiful evening before a week-long hike. THANKS

Très correct Les deux serveuses aimables et efficaces. Les plats très corrects, la paella maison excellente. Le jour de notre passage le patron un peu ronchon, peu souriant, sûrement un problème ce jour là ! Nous avons passé un bon moment en famille.

Excellent family cooking that we would like to eat more often. All for a very reasonable price (starter + main course + dessert = €22). The products are local (we were able to see the suppliers) and the cuisine is refined compared to restaurants in Font Romeu which are two to three times more expensive and of lower quality.
