Aux amis de la route sur Pouxeux

I arrived at 9:00 PM and there were a couple of parking spots. Since the restaurant closes at 10:00 PM, I went straight there. Payment was cash only, as the payment terminal wasn't working. (The receipt said "parking.") The restaurant served a steak with sauce, fries, and a salad, plus 200ml of wine. Everything was delicious. The shower/toilet facilities were ok. The night was quiet, and the trash bins were full. The guests were mostly French, and everything in the restaurant is also in French, so the translator was helpful. Everything was great.

I used to really enjoy this restaurant, but not so much anymore. I called to order a table around 9:30 pm. They told me: NO!! We don't turn off the fryer at 9 pm and we already have a lot of customers. Not very customer-friendly of the owner. It's a shame, the food used to be good.

We discovered La Bohème by chance two weeks ago while driving north. Night was falling, we were hungry and tired after 24 hours on the road. A warm welcome, incredibly fast service, and an excellent, unpretentious, hearty meal with the delicious taste of homemade goodness reminded me of lunches and dinners from my youth, enjoyed along country roads. Pure bliss, and without breaking the bank! We were so pleased that when we hit the road again from northern Belgium towards Lake Geneva this morning, I made sure to choose a route and departure time that would allow us to arrive at La Bohème in time for lunch. We were right on schedule and once again appreciated the kindness of the hosts, as well as the simple yet essential pleasure of satisfying our hunger with a pleasant and invigorating meal. We certainly plan to return during our travels, both for the quality of the food served and for the kindness of the hosts.

The food was excellent, simple but satisfying. The staff was welcoming; I highly recommend it.

An excellent roadside restaurant, everything is homemade and very good. Friendly welcome, don't hesitate to stop by, top-notch!
