Chateau Corneille - La Closerie sur Vieux-Villez

Beautiful house, warm welcome, spacious and well-appointed room! The restaurant offers a variety of homemade dishes at a reasonable price for the quantity and quality. The service is very good and friendly. The continental breakfast, however, is very basic; the scrambled eggs made with powdered egg and the steamed bacon somewhat spoil the experience.

We stopped here having traveled from the UK across to Caen. Having spent the day exploring Normandy beaches etc we wanted somewhere en route to Paris to stop for the night. This was the perfect solution. Beautiful building, warm hospitality from our hosts. Plenty of parking away from the main road. See reviews of the restaurant next door.

We stayed at the Chateau Cornielle on our first night on a drive from London to the south of Spain. What a lovely little hotel for the price, ideal. Everything we could have wished for for the first stop. Dog friendly for our 6 month old Spaniel. Friendly and accommodating staff and a really nice restaurant (closed Sundays). Ideal quiet location, Gaillon, the nearest town doesn't have a lot going on, but found a locals bar/cafe/lottery shop :) for a drink before dinner at the hotel which was really good. We will be staying there again on out return journey.. really recommended.

This is my second time staying here. It's a little slice of paradise, perfect for recharging your batteries, with staff worthy of a 5-star hotel, plus a real sense of customer service! Whether for business or pleasure, I recommend this hotel 200%! The sleep is good, the food is good, I have absolutely no complaints!

I stayed at this hotel for a several month work assignment from August through December 2016, and it truly became my sanctuary during that time. Transitioning from the tail end of summer into the heart of winter gave me a chance to see every side of this property, and it never failed to impress. When I arrived in August, the hotel was incredibly lively. It was the peak of the season, and the energy was infectious. With so many visitors passing through, the lobby and common areas felt vibrant and full of life, perfect for unwinding after a long day of work. As the months rolled by and the temperature dropped, the hotel transformed. My room became a cosy retreat against the winter chill. There is nothing quite like coming back from a cold day on site to a space that feels warm, quiet, and perfectly insulated. I spent almost every evening at the restaurant located right next to the hotel (within the hotel premises). Having such high quality dining just steps away from my room made the long work day much more manageable. The food was consistently excellent, but it was the atmosphere that kept me coming back nightly. The true highlight of my five month stay, however, was the hotel staff. They weren't just professional, they were extremely helpful and went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. Their hospitality was so genuine that it didn't feel like I was staying in a commercial building, they truly made me feel like I belonged there. If you are looking for a place that balances a vibrant social scene with deep, quiet comfort, this is it. Whether it's for a short trip or a long-term professional stay like mine, you’ll be well taken care of.

I was very disappointed with this business lunch 😞. A kir was waiting for us at the table, but it was warm. The foie gras terrine was barely there; the beef skewer was too small for an adult, and the dessert was a rather ordinary yule log. I would not recommend this restaurant.
