Dame cakes sur Rouen

Un accueil et un serveur sympathiques et d excellentes pâtisseries et boissons dans un cadre très agréable , nous avons grandement apprécié notre pause sucrée

Tea room in the historic center of Rouen, right in front of the side portal known as the Booksellers of Rouen Cathedral. Seats on tables and chairs are quite comfortable although the rooms on the ground floor and first floor are not very large. Huge choice of variations of tea and various cakes and biscuits. Fast and kind service. Prices normal considering the context. Paid parking nearby.

Very good as far as the pastry is concerned, however the drinks are disappointing, the strawberry milk does not taste like it, because of a layer of strawberry syrup at the bottom of the glass.

6 euros for the tiny slice of cake on site under the pretext of a formula which was not requested at the time of the order... The infusion time of the teas is not indicated however the prices charged are indeed those of a tea room (expensive). Surely a better take-out experience than on-site.

The garden is superb, green. For the cakes, I expected much better, it's good but not extraordinary

Very disappointed, I went there with family, 3 people in total. We were placed upstairs, on a very small table at the top of the stairs (2 m from the last step) in a corner of the wall, I asked for a larger table (there were 3 free) but I was told no. We order 2 slices of lemon strawberry mint tart, Disappointed taste not the taste of lemon, just mint. The coffee shake is impossible to drink (very foamy instant coffee) and pieces of instant coffee in small balls can be suspended everywhere. In short, very disappointed this time with my visit to Dames Cakes....

How can you not resist this tempting display? A rainbow of flavors and colors! Our taste buds melting and boiling. The facade of this magnificent tea room directs our eye towards its window. It reminds us of one of the wonderful periods of our lives: childhood. Memories of our afternoons with our grandmother. Everything that is present outside is also present inside this old ironworks. White and beige flower wallpaper, beautiful floral moldings on the walls. All decorated with beautiful black tables, all equipped with two garden chairs, a back overhung with curvatures with a good soft cushion and of course a magnificent vase of dried flowers. These tables would be nothing without the very vintage little lamps that hang over them, reminding me of my grandfather's favorite lamp. Some will say that the decoration is too busy, but isn't that how our grandmothers did? Old furniture, trinkets in every corner. This is what the customer is looking for through the warmth it gives off, a flavor of nostalgia. As for the cuisine, it is breathtaking, from cakes to tarts and sweet treats. It all awakens wonderful memories in us like Anton Ego in Ratatouille when he tastes ratatouille. A dive from the first bite into our childhood: rhubarb tart, chocolate cake, lemon and blueberry tart. All topped off with tea, who knows how many flavors there are, or chocolate. Some will say that the price is too high but nothing is too high for a house and for the memory that this place provokes. So in many ways we are losing our taste buds today by putting sugar on our plate. There are still wonderful places that don't stop at the decor or the cuisine. But which make a whole, a whole: a nostalgic journey.

Je suis absolument ravie d'avoir pu découvrir cet endroit ! Avant de venir à Rouen, pour la première fois ce mois-ci j'avais recherché quelques adresses où je pourrais me rendre avec mon amie et dès que j'ai vu Dame Cakes, j'ai directement voulu y aller. Je m'y suis d'abord rendu pour prendre un petit goûter et je peux dire que c'est le meilleur cake à la violette que je n'ai jamais mangé ! Et c'était super d'avoir un petit pot de fromage blanc servi avec la part de gâteau, ça permettait d'équilibrer le goût sucré. En ce qui concerne le salé, c'est également très bon et très sain ! Les plats proposés sont originaux, bien présentés, et à des prix abordables. L'accueil est très agréable, la décoration est élégante et jolie, et le service est parfait (pratiquement pas d'attente). J'ai été aussi surprise (dans le bon sens ) du nombre de boissons proposées (ps: le jus pomme framboise est délicieux)! Je recommande vivement cet endroit, surtout si vous cherchez un coin reposant, abordable et très desthetic. C'est une super adresse, j'avais l'impression d'être dans un salon de thé en Angleterre ( et j'adore le logo qui me fait beaucoup penser à Jane Austen )! Aliénor
