A tour of the commandery, a monument of the past to be preserved
Here is some information about the site:
The Saint-Jean-du-Vieil-Aître commandery is the oldest visible building in Nancy. Dating from the 12th century, it is one of the city's few Romanesque monuments. The tower is the remnant of a church founded by Duke Matthew I, which was destroyed in the mid-19th century. It has been owned by the city of Nancy since 1950.
Turning off Rue des Goncourt from Villa Majorelle, you arrive at Avenue Foch and find yourself face to face with this very, very understated tower – it's surprising.
