Flunch sur Varennes-Sur-Seine

It's a shame that there are fewer and fewer Flunch cafeterias in France!

Flunch has made a lot of progress with its menus...the dishes are tasty...I'll be back

After asking if a food item was non-halal because my friend doesn't eat meat as it's not part of his religion, he was accused of insulting the staff. Apparently, being Christian and not wanting to eat meat from outside one's community is forbidden. Then, someone who wasn't even there that day twisted the situation, accusing my friend of defamation. This person, wanting to have the last word, called the security guard and insulted him in front of his colleagues, saying he was sick. After discussing an exchange with the guard four days earlier, he also found it perfectly normal for me to ask about the origin of the meat, in this case, chicken tenders. Then she called her boss for a fourth explanation. What's normal for one community is clearly not acceptable for others.

We arrived around 2:15 pm and had no problem getting a meal. There was still a good selection of vegetables (a little less of a meat option), which was great for a meal on our holiday journey. We like this place where everyone can eat what they prefer, and the vegetables are unlimited.

We went there as a family on February 14th. The staff at reception, in the kitchen, and in the dining room were all very kind, and we even received a rose as a gift for Valentine's Day. There's a small playroom, which is very convenient with young children. We arrived early, so there was space, but many people, alone or in pairs, sat at tables for six (we were five), while plenty of empty tables for four were available. We had to ask someone sitting alone at a table for six to move to a table for four because there wasn't enough room. (It's impossible to add a chair to a table for four without blocking the passage for others, plus five trays don't fit on a table for four.)

I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a rose at lunchtime today for Valentine's Day, presented by the manager of the Flunch restaurant in Varennes...Thank you again, sir, for this lovely gesture! A very good family restaurant, a lovely experience. We came as a family for the first time; we hadn't been to this restaurant before. We were lucky enough to be greeted by a young woman on January 10th at the pastry counter. She was a young Black woman in her twenties, slim, petite, and very smiley (with a rather unusual little tooth next to hers :-) that's how I would describe her, if I may, and some bandages; very kind. We will be back, a very good restaurant.

It's a shame the room was too small during the holidays, otherwise, no complaints. The service was quick, and there was a good selection of sides and desserts.

I recommend it, the food is good and it's not expensive ❤️❤️

I like the welcome and the atmosphere. The dishes are simple but of good quality.
