Grill Courtepaille sur Vallauris

As a regular customer, I was often a little disappointed by the slow service, but that's changed a lot with the new team. The meat is still perfect, but now it's also quick and friendly. We'll be back even more often ☺️

We had a wonderful time, thanks in particular to the new manager and her team! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We'll be back!

The initial welcome was adequate, and the welcome salad was fine, but the experience quickly deteriorated. There was a long wait for our aperitif without our order being taken: we had to flag down a waitress who never returned. The drink was disappointing (a Spritz served with a piece of orange that was clearly recycled, limp, and unappealing). The main course was decent (a hamburger, see photos), but the portion of fries was very small. The atmosphere was cold and tense, with inappropriate remarks directed at the cook, creating a frankly unpleasant environment. The desserts were average: a Dame Blanche (a type of ice cream) and half a scoop. No one offered coffee or a drink at the end of the meal, while the "manager" and another staff member spent more time chatting than attending to customers or addressing any issues. It's a shame. We won't be going back.

Arriving around 2:32 pm, we were welcomed without any problems despite the late hour and served quite quickly. The welcome salads took a little while to arrive and required a reminder, but once requested, they arrived immediately, followed directly by the main courses. The meats were delicious, perfectly grilled, and accompanied by a very good wine. The true charm of Courtepaille lies in the visible fire, the fireplace that creates a warm and authentic atmosphere. The service was very friendly and relaxed, and a special mention goes to the coffees, which were truly excellent, served with little speculoos cookies. In short, a pleasant break, just like Courtepaille itself.

Courtepaille is a chain that has locations throughout France, but it's not as well-established as other chains. This one in Vallauris seems a little more refined than others I've been to. I had an excellent carpaccio and paid a fair price. I recommend it to anyone passing through. The only downside: it's a bit hidden and difficult to find unless you pay close attention to the signs.

The food is good quality but the service is extremely slow. There's definitely a staff shortage, so they pretend not to be there, and therefore a meal without water... it's a real shame.
