Hippopotamus Chambourcy sur Chambourcy

The steaks varied greatly in thickness. We ordered rare for the three of us, but it was served medium. The knives were terrible; I used my Opinel.

Disappointed with the ribs I ordered. They weren't grilled. Impeccable service, charming and attentive waitress.

Seated on the terrace, we were somewhat forgotten. So we went inside and sat down at a table. The service was a bit faster once we were inside. The dessert tasted too processed, not great.

A great time with colleagues! The owner and team are very friendly! The food is always good. The only slight downside was that I ordered duck breast, and one of the two pieces was very dry, so inedible.

The dessert was very good, especially the floating island. However, my husband and daughter ordered meat that was supposed to be delicious, but it was tough and sinewy, even with a sharp knife—it was impossible to cut. What a shame for a restaurant that should serve good meat! Disappointed, especially considering the price.

I chose a Chateaubriand steak, ordered rare, but it was barely medium-rare! My wife chose a medium-rare Irish steak, which was also very rare! Béarnaise sauce for my wife, very good. Pepper sauce for me, good. As for the red wine, a Brouilly Georges Duboeuf, which is very good, but when will your restaurants understand that red wine should be served at cellar temperature, around 15-18°C? Some chains give customers a choice between chilled red wine or red wine at room temperature (for example, La Criée!). Otherwise, the service staff were very friendly. So we asked for it and received it "on ice." For dessert, a Hippo Banana. Very good. Overall, the experience wasn't completely negative. But Hippopotamus could do better, especially when it comes to cooking the meat, which the chain claims to specialize in!

It had been a while since we'd been to this restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and friendly welcome we received from Gabrielle, Cassandra, and their colleagues on duty that evening. The food was delicious and beautifully presented; our two Monaco sandwiches were perfect. The atmosphere was pleasant and convivial. A young and dynamic team who are attentive to their guests without being intrusive. We dined outside on the terrace and had a wonderful evening at your establishment. Well done to this fantastic team!

It was my first time trying the Hippopotamus in Chambourcy, and it was a pleasant surprise. Luc's welcome and service were truly excellent. Best of luck to the whole team, keep up the good work, don't change a thing!
