Superbly renovated, a place steeped in history with breathtaking views. The audio guides are very helpful during the visit.

An interesting historical site. Lots of exhibits. A fun trip. The only downside is the lack of parking staff to manage the parking spaces – the parking lot is governed by the law of the strongest, and paradoxically, the spaces are occupied very far from the castle, creating an artificial traffic jam... whereas 400-500 meters away, there are plenty of spaces.

It was my first time visiting in winter and it was beautiful. It was a very pleasant visit because there weren't many other people around; I was able to explore it peacefully and see everything in more detail.

A superb castle, beautifully restored. Nothing is lacking; I've rarely seen a medieval castle so complete in terms of construction.

Magnificent castle, especially from a restoration standpoint. They rebuilt everything and the architecture is stunning. A must-see.

The castle in question is Haut-Koenigsbourg, built in the 12th century by the Swabian Duke Frederick II. It fell into ruin in the 17th century but was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century under the German Emperor Wilhelm II. The castle is very beautiful and has many elaborately decorated rooms. While parking is acceptable, you should still allow extra time on sunny days and especially on weekends. Entry to the castle is affordable, and prices are easily found on the website. We didn't book tickets online, but it was a rather rainy day, so I would recommend online tickets, especially on sunny days. Since the castle has many steps and stairs, it is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. In conclusion, a visit and the 30-minute drive from Colmar are well worth it.
