La Beaugravière sur Mondragon

Wonderful family run restaurant. If you like exceptionally high standard of food at a reasonable price you will not be disappointed. Good choice of menus. Great wine menu which could take an hour ro read! Not to be missed if you are near the region, it is worth travelling a bit further to get to. And they have rooms , in case you want to eat, drink and stay overnight.

Wonderful place, I highly recommend this establishment, worthy of the very best.

A superb truffle menu with impeccable service... An extraordinary menu at a reasonable price

Excellent classic cuisine, with quality ingredients. But we mainly come here for the wine list, which is fantastic, and for the truffles. Perfect welcome. [Back in summer 2020. Wonderful lobster salad with foie gras and truffles (the restaurant's great specialty). It's also one of the last places where you can treat yourself to Burgundies from Lafon or Roumier at decent prices. One of our favorite restaurants in France, without a doubt.] [Back in May 2021, when the terraces opened. Still as well made, with just as much professionalism. Wine from Domaine de la Grange des Pères, in tribute to Laurent Vaillé, who recently passed away.] I'm maintaining the 5 stars.] [Back in July: bravo for the pâté en croute!] And the magnificent 2015 Chassagne Clos de la Boudriotte from Ramonet] [Back in January, with a superb and generous truffle menu (Bravo for finding such good ones in such a mediocre year). As always, very fine wines, including an excellent Clos St Denis from Dujac)] Back three times this year. In January: Truffle menu as always generous, with the best truffles you can find, because Guy Julien is a product manicurist. The 2014 Hermitage blanc from Chave is perfect. The 2016 Chassagne Clos de la Boudriotte from Ramonet is a little harsh on the finish (the 2018, tasted a few months later, was also harsh). The 2022 Châteauneuf-du Pape Clos du Calvaire is fresh and delicious. In July: Excellent Chateauneuf, Clos du Calvaire Horizon 2022. A plus for the truffle vegetable stew, with very beautiful asparagus. In August, a splendid chanterelle tart.

We only went to the restaurant. The food was excellent. The service and welcome were impeccable. The owner was kind. No complaints about the value for money.

What a pleasure to return to dine at the Auberge de Beaugraviere, charming service and extraordinary cuisine that is no longer available. It feels like rediscovering the gastronomy of 50 years ago. Half-mourning chicken, truffled sweetbreads, crêpes Suzette! A great chef, a wonderful place. My friend who hated sweetbreads rediscovered them here. A treat!
