La Corniche des Cevennes sur Saint-Jean-Du-Gard

A small hotel which let's be honest is totally in its juice, and yet with great potential. nice location between greenery and river, all in the heart of the Cévennes, in a relatively quiet area. The rooms are located outside the establishment and each has its own entrance with a mini terrace. Our room is quite basic but clean and comfortable, very good bedding, small kettle and TV. The weekend of our stay, it rained a lot, and contrary to some Google reviews, the room does not suffer from any problems or smells of humidity. The bathroom is quite spacious with window and shower. Here, on the other hand, a major renovation work is essential (mouldy joints, toilet bowl from the 70s, rusty radiator, old and questionable shower curtain but everything is cleaned). The reception/catering area is spacious with a very cute terrace which we were not able to enjoy due to the weather (outdoor furniture also in its original condition). The dining room is old but cozy, the dishes are good with good value for money. Special mention to Valérie (I suppose the owner) who according to some Google reviews is very unpleasant... she is a very simple and adorable lady. On Sunday evening we were the only occupants of the hotel, we had planned to have dinner there that evening but she had planned to close the restaurant. Knowing that we were going to have difficulty finding a place to eat at this time (Sunday evening at the beginning of March) she kindly had the chef come and provide the service just for us... decent breakfast: bread, mini pastries, cake chestnut, yogurt, fruit, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea, infusion or coffee. To summarize, a small hotel which above all needs to be restored and upgraded and which we will keep good memories of.

One night stay. Simple, warm and attentive welcome, on an impressive rainy day. The comfortable room was heated. (The damp smell in the bathroom fades quickly and the renovation work continues.) Tasty and hearty meal. And when we woke up, the sun and the panorama delighted us. Make up your own mind, unless you want luxury and appearance....

Very beautiful place, the setting is magnificent, the welcome friendly and the cuisine tasty (especially the soft/fondant chestnut... not to be missed!!)

I find some comments not at all objective or even abused!!!! We must detail this hotel: The lady at reception is pleasant and welcomes customers with sympathy. The food is really good and not expensive for the quality of the products. The big problem comes from the humidity in the rooms despite the heating and ventilation. Good bedding.
