This is exactly the kind of restaurant I love. Simple, friendly, and right on the water. On this sweltering day, I stopped to eat at Restaurant du Port in Tanlay by chance. And I can confirm, chance does work out well! First of all, the waitress advised us on a table in the shade, depending on the sun's position during our meal, and to top it off, there was a lovely little breeze by the water. We weren't hot at all in the 30°C heat. The service was friendly and efficient, the food simple with a €15 set menu, and a selection of classic dishes and pizzas à la carte. That day, the set menu included: a starter of melon and prosciutto or parsley ham (which I chose), a main course of cold roast pork or lasagna (which I also chose), cheese or dessert (there were plenty!), and coffee. A small beer and a San Pellegrino to wash it all down and cool down. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. As always, my burning question: will I come back, or won't I? And well, I'LL BE BACK.
Farm-to-table dining from start to finish. Everything is incredibly fresh, the bread is baked on-site, and the croque monsieur is just as delicious as a gourmet meal.
You won't waste any time sitting down for a truly satisfying meal.
A very warm welcome.
Thank you.
Cycling along the canal, we stopped for a snack. Set menu for 15 euros: starter, main course, dessert, and coffee. Excellent. Pleasant and friendly service.
The service needs improvement; the staff is unpleasant. Especially the person who seems to be the owner. A seafood salad with avocado wasn't included—oops, it was a holiday, so we didn't get our delivery.
What a joke! If I'd been told, I would have ordered something else.
Anyway...
