A small restaurant in the center of Salses-le-Château, worth a visit once in a pinch. The building dates back to the 1900s. The daily menu includes Catalan-style anchovies, boule de picolat (a type of sausage), Catalan cabbage, etc.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and it was a wonderful surprise. The meatballs were delicious. Reasonable price 👍

Excellent welcome, very good food, perfect value for money! Don't change a thing, everything is fantastic!!! And what's more (which isn't always the case), the toilets are spotless...it has to be said, it's so rare in the south of France.

We were very well received in an unusual setting, we were served generously, and we enjoyed delicious traditional Catalan cuisine.

Barely having crossed the threshold of this café, which in the heart of the village seems like a discreet and unpretentious spot, we were charmed and amazed by the splendor of this brasserie, with its elegant and classy Belle Époque style. We were greeted by Christine, who was a little overwhelmed at lunchtime, as a TF1 news report had arrived to feature this establishment in the 1 p.m. news segment "SOS VILLAGES," because Christine and her husband, Jean-Louis, were putting the business up for sale and looking for buyers. We were delighted to enjoy this lunch, where the clientele of regulars and tourists, no doubt having stumbled upon it after visiting the nearby fortress, felt fortunate to have found it. We opted for the three-course meal offered at €27.50! Snails, anchovies, and tomato bread with a choice of ham, followed by beef cheek stew and chicken with prawns—still being talked about, it was amazing! The best meal of my life, the Catalan cream was a little too sweet on the crust, but we'll always remember this lunch. Please don't retire too soon, and if there is a successor—and we hope there is one—may they maintain the spirit, the quality, and the menus that have proven successful, because you have real talent in your kitchen. Set menu on Sundays, but multiple choices and Catalan specialties. Everything is homemade, we thoroughly enjoyed it!
