La petite école sur Gargas

Excellent meal in a very pleasant setting! I highly recommend it :)

We had a wonderful dinner at L’École du Chêne in Gargas and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Provence or the Apt area. The menu was brilliantly adapted to the season — and even to the heatwave — with dishes that felt light, clever, and perfectly suited to the exceptional hot weather. We both started with the vitello tonnato, followed by the tataki de bœuf: tender, beautifully marinated, and full of the thoughtful flavours Matthieu is known for. The wine list is exceptional and great value. I practically lost my husband to it for half the evening — it’s that good. Déborah & Matthieu, with the lovely Barbara helping them, create such a warm, relaxed, down‑to‑earth atmosphere. Their new setting in the old schoolhouse is charming: cool indoors for hot evenings, and outside under the trees it feels wonderfully romantic. We finished with the blackcurrant sorbet and apricot dessert, both sublime. A fantastic restaurant, excellent value, and a team who truly care. We’re delighted to see them thriving in Gargas.

A truly wonderful place! The service is impeccable, attentive, and warm, in a pleasant and relaxing setting where you immediately feel at ease. Mathieu and Déborah are incredibly friendly and passionate restaurateurs, and this is evident in every detail. The cuisine is delicate, modern, and perfectly executed. Each dish is carefully prepared, using high-quality ingredients and showcasing genuine creativity. You can feel their love for their craft and their desire to please. A place I wholeheartedly recommend and one we return to every time we're in the area.

The setting is beautifully renovated in a former school, and the welcome is simply impeccable: the owners and the entire team are incredibly kind and always smiling. As for the food, we opted for the set menu: a delight from start to finish, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. Passionate about fine wines, the owners will be able to perfectly advise you on the best pairings for your meal. We had a wonderful evening; thank you to the whole team!

We had a delicious meal and drinks. The menu is small, but the ingredients are clearly fresh. Cozy, relaxed atmosphere with a nice theme. Friendly service.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at this restaurant! The owners are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The setting is lovely, the decor is tasteful, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You immediately feel at ease. We will definitely be back!

They've made me love beef tataki again. It's excellent. No photo, we've got everything to eat. Kisses to the reader.

As a family, even with children they adapt, we ate extremely well, very very good welcome, I recommend if you come to the Leberon area.

Lovely terrace, but the food didn't impress us. The main course included a cold octopus salad, and dessert was an unimaginative café gourmand with chocolates from a bag.
