We were recommended by the Hôtel de l'Amphithéâtre, and luckily so, as it allowed us to 1) learn a new expression from the Sarthe region... and 2) sample the cuisine of this small restaurant in the Nîmes market.
It was fresh, generous, and above all, delicious.
The chef even gave us a recipe.
Go without hesitation!

Don’t hesitate and don’t miss this place if you’re in Nîmes. Highlights were the tartar, the local salt cod—brandade and the crevettes carpaccio. The service was so friendly and probably one of the best meals we had in Provence. Michelin rated but also full of locals.

Discovered thanks to family who knew of it, this restaurant in Les Halles was a delightful surprise. The location is unexpected amidst the market stalls, and our elevated table allowed us to watch all the dishes being prepared. Excellent menus, all served by smiling and welcoming staff. A must-try. Thank you for this wonderful family meal.

Superb experience in the food hall. We ordered oysters, gazpacho, octopus, and braised pork with local wines for accompaniment. Our server (the one on the photo) treated us well and even spoke English to supplement my rudimentary French. We didn’t feel rushed at all, despite the fullness of the hall. It was a highlight of our Nimes trip, worth repeating. If you have the opportunity, try the pea gazpacho.
