As regulars at the Rhumerie, we wanted to introduce it to some visiting friends. What a disappointment! The accras were lukewarm, unspiced, and soggy, and the blood sausage, usually excellent and spicy, was completely unremarkable.
Let's hope it was just because it was Whit Sunday!

A very nice restaurant, with excellent cocktails and snacks.
The main courses are also very good.
We were just disappointed that one of the two waitresses that evening made us feel like we were bothering them.
The service deserved to be more attentive and pleasant, in order to live up to the establishment's standards.

Not only is it a bit like our Proustian madeleine—we were students nearby 40 years ago!—but we always go to the Caribbean with typuch and accras.

The rum and cocktail menu is decent, but nothing special.
The cocktails we had were good.
The cod fritters and the Creole platter were also very good.
However, the table was sticky because it wasn't cleaned between customers, or at least not properly cleaned.
The tables are very close together because the place isn't very large.
The ambient noise is deafening! Add to that the somewhat incongruous jazz trio playing in a place where you'd expect to hear zouk and reggae.
The decor is nonexistent!
No one seems to bring this insignificant place to life.
What a shame! Such a promising place, but it wasn't kept.

This is the second time I've eaten at this lovely restaurant in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It brings back wonderful memories of Réunion and the French West Indies.
Like last time, I ordered a sausage rougail and a coconut punch. I'd love to try something different next time :)

The accras were really good, a real success, but I've rarely had such a bland ti' punch. It was made with flavorless liquid cane sugar and completely ordinary rum. For a bar called "La Rhumerie" (The Rum Bar), that's a real shame.

Passing through Paris, what a great find! A refreshing change from the usual brasseries!
The cocktails are excellent, and the food is great too (special mention for the Caribbean platter which lets you sample a little bit of everything). A warm welcome as well, with friendly waitresses.
