La Table De L'harmadas sur Parigne-L'Eveque

Excellent modern french restaurant! The fish was grilled to perfection and although all the dishes were all flavourful, the standout was the beef tartare appetizer in an artichoke mixed with this delicious green sauce, wherein you would use the leaves of the artichoke to scoop up the beef tartare. The mushroom chocolate mousse dessert was an interesting combination as well! Reservations are recommended as it is a small restaurant and many walk-ins were turned away because they were full for the evening.

Excellent tasting menu, interesting combinations and memorable carrots! Lovely relaxed atmosphere, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely go here, sit in the window if you can, great people-watching spot.

I found this place on Michelin's "Selected Restaurants" and it was conveniently located after my day of sight seeing. I would give it a 3.5/5. I was glad they had a tasting menu which I got since and a solo diner it let me try more of the menu. It started strong with the amuse bouche with delicious fermented garlic. The tartare was also solid. The best dish was the trout. Simply prepared but extremely well executed. The mashed carrots were divine and the lemon balm leaves on top really added to the dish. In general, the dishes were a nice change from the heavy classic French/Lyonnaise food. I appreciated the attempt at creativity but the dishes were never greater than the sum of their parts. Where this place fell flat was the pacing and the service. They never noticed when my wine glass was empty (though I was done) and the service really varies by server and dish. In some cases the dish arrived with a great description and others (even with the same server), not a word.

After a few days in Lyon eating at some delicious restaurants, we were recommended Armada, but I have to say we were very disappointed. The food was nothing special; we ordered a rib that was incredibly dry and tasteless. I had to ask for extra sauce to make it acceptable. The service wasn't very friendly, the water wasn't cold, and it was very hot inside. I'm really sorry about the bad experience, especially since so many people hadn't recommended it. I don't know if it was because it was August and the staff wasn't very experienced, or if it was just an off day.
