La Vieille Cave sur Banyuls-Sur-Mer

Excellent discovery! A very warm welcome, with a particularly friendly owner and a team of young, dynamic, and highly professional servers. The dishes are delicious, well-executed, unpretentious yet perfectly balanced—a very pleasant surprise. A fine selection of local wines. A truly authentic place that we highly recommend.

This restaurant is always top-notch, summer and winter alike; a sure bet every time you visit.

Good presentation, but the pizza seemed dated. Not fresh tasting, may have been a one off, but I’ll look for other options

Exceptional waitress and good foodm

We were greeted warmly and with smiles. We had a €14 set lunch which included half a pizza of our choice and half a salad of our choice from the menu. This set lunch included wine and dessert or coffee.

We were warmly welcomed by a very pleasant and friendly lady. As requested, we were served very quickly and given priority checkout to catch our train. Another server was also present, less talkative but just as attentive to customers' needs. I recommend this place for a good meal in a friendly atmosphere. We were travelers passing through, without knowing the owner.

I don't understand why some customers criticize the service and the food. Every time we eat here, the service is friendly and attentive (we're not friends with the owner, by the way, but Germans who often come to Banyuls). The menu is good, the pizzas are almost as good as in Naples (we used to live there), and the other dishes have never disappointed us. Those expecting haute cuisine should go to the appropriate restaurants – and, of course, pay the corresponding prices. We feel comfortable here and always return with pleasure – at the latest for my birthday 😉 Addendum: This weekend, we went to eat at La Vieille Cave. The tagliatelle with prawns is unfortunately not recommended – the prawns were overcooked, and the sauce, apart from being salty, was too thin and tasteless. It's a real shame. However, all the other dishes were, as usual, very good.

A very nice little restaurant, the interior is lovely, with vaulted ceilings and a cozy atmosphere. The outdoor terrace is also very pleasant. There's a wide selection on the menu and set menus. I had the half-and-half menu for €12, which was excellent. I highly recommend it and will definitely return.
