La Villa Madie sur Cassis

I must say we were expecting a nice experience, but not on this level: there aren't words strong enough in French to describe the incredible and truly exceptional moment we experienced! While we had planned to swim at our favorite spot in the village of Cassis near the restaurant, we decided to have dinner at the brasserie first, as we weren't "dressed" for a fine dining establishment according to custom! I still decided to ask if there was a table available and if they would allow us to be seated in the fine dining room. And from there, our dream began, thanks to the intelligence and kindness of the receptionist, who spontaneously offered me trousers (yes, really! Instead of shorts), and luckily, we had a table available (on a Sunday evening, no less!). He also informed his boss, Dimitri, who trusted him (more emotional intelligence…), and we were able to have dinner. The final result, which many French restaurants would do well to emulate in order to occasionally break away from the norm, is that we had a wonderful, truly "timeless" experience, as we remarked at the end. From the sommelier Hortense to the various servers (even the trainee), all young and displaying a professionalism worthy of a 3-Michelin-starred establishment: attentive, perfectly timed, with impeccable timing, and above all, personalized service tailored to each customer's pace! French luxury in a magical setting—it's simply flawless! And to top it all off, Dimitri came to see us at the till when we paid the bill, even though, for once, he was dining with his family (because, as he explained, it was a small service with three-quarters of the terrace full!). His team reflects his own character, achieving world-class standards in every aspect I personally expect from a restaurant (and I travel extensively and have done so for a long time, so I can modestly make some comparisons): plus, a rare humanity and emotional intelligence! So we'll be back soon to try the other menu (fewer courses), and I already recommended the place to a friend this lunchtime who's going with his wife. When everything is perfect, you deserve to work and do business. We wish you all the best for the future: proud to be French when our French culture (fabulous food and wine pairing thanks to Hortense) is so beautifully showcased. Exceptional 😃. A warm welcome and impeccable service. A fabulous setting, with views of Cap Canaille and, of course, the Mediterranean. We were made to feel very welcome, expected, and pampered. Nothing was lacking. From the divine aperitif to the desserts, everything was perfect. An explosion of flavors, carefully considered combinations, and dishes as beautiful to look at as they were to eat. Delicious little extras at the beginning and end of the meal. We received excellent wine recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The sommelier took the time to talk with us and returned to our table to chat and check that everything was alright. Your dish was always clearly explained, and the service was attentive without being intrusive… the staff was charming! We appreciated Marielle Droisneau's presence and Dimitri's rounds of the tables, where he took the time to chat at the end of service. An unforgettable experience.

During our lunch on August 15th, we received a warm welcome from Marielle and her entire team. The service was impeccable, punctuated by thoughtful touches such as a refreshing, deliciously scented napkin. The setting and the view are simply breathtaking, providing a truly exquisite backdrop to the experience. The tableware—glasses, plates, and cutlery—perfectly showcased dishes perfectly suited to the summer season, gradually guiding us on a culinary journey. To conclude this gastronomic voyage, the desserts were both indulgent and fruity. The chef's presence at the end of the meal and the quality of our conversation were particularly appreciated. This magical moment ended with a delightful touch: a complimentary brioche upon our departure.

We dined at Villa Madie in August 2026, and while the overall experience was very positive, it fell short of our expectations. The setting is superb, with a terrace and a truly special view, and no noise pollution. The interior dining room, however, is much more ordinary in my opinion and could perhaps benefit from a refresh. The welcome and service in general were very professional, attentive, and pleasant. Special mention goes to the sommelier and especially to the couple who run the establishment, Marielle and Dimitri, who are very approachable and contribute greatly to the restaurant's pleasant atmosphere and professionalism. However, we found the cuisine clearly lacking compared to the establishment's reputation, its three Michelin stars, and especially the price (€500 per person, including wines between €150 and €200 per bottle – we opted for the €380 tasting menu). One last important, but negative, point in this otherwise luxurious experience: driving into the restaurant's parking lot is extremely problematic if you have a high-performance sports car or one without front axle lifts. We scraped the undercarriage quite badly at the gate and the front bumper at the bottom of the slope (the numerous marks on the asphalt are proof of this). Overall, however, it was still a lovely evening thanks to the location/setting, the staff, and the owners, Marielle and Dimitri.

This was our second visit to this beautiful place. The setting is magical, with a lot of creativity in both the dishes and their presentation. The flavors were abundant, and the sommelier gave us excellent advice. The service was impeccable and always with a smile. We had high expectations, but they were exceeded in every respect. The location is simply spectacular. With views of the Mediterranean Sea and the impressive cliffs of Cassis, the setting alone is a reason to come here. The tranquility, elegance, and refined atmosphere ensure that you immediately feel this is a special place. The reception was warm, professional, and at the same time remarkably relaxed. The entire team manages to strike a perfect balance between impeccable service and a warm, personal approach. You feel treated not just as a guest, but truly welcome. Every detail is spot on: the pace of the service, the knowledge of the dishes and wines, the attention without being intrusive, and the genuine passion with which everything is presented. The cuisine is of an exceptional standard. Every dish is a work of art, not only visually but especially in terms of taste. The products are of absolute top quality and are treated with incredible respect. The flavors are refined, perfectly balanced, and surprising without ever trying to force an impression. You taste the Mediterranean, Provence, and the chef's creativity in every dish. The wine pairing also deserves special mention. Each glass complemented the dish seamlessly and elevated the flavors to an even higher level. The sommelier took the time to explain everything clearly, doing so with expertise and visible enthusiasm. What makes La Villa Madie truly exceptional for us is that, despite the absolute top level, no sense of distance or pretension arises anywhere. On the contrary: the entire evening felt relaxed, welcoming, and genuine. That is a rare combination in a restaurant of this caliber. For us, this evening will always hold a very special meaning. It was the place where we got engaged, meaning La Villa Madie will forever remain connected to one of the most beautiful moments of our lives. The team, consciously or unconsciously, contributed to this by creating an evening that was perfect down to the smallest detail. La Villa Madie is without any doubt a world-class culinary destination. Not only because of the impressive cuisine, but also due to the exceptional hospitality, the breathtaking location, and the complete experience you get here. This is a restaurant where you don't just go to eat, but where memories are made. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable evening. We hope to return to this magical place someday.

I’m still dreaming of the eco system dish.. and the great wines and champagne. It was a journey. Started a bit strange with me being under dressed with my shorts and got refused entrance… but they got a pants for me to borrow .. luckily… and in my size, honestly I’m going to get some of those pants for a new winter looks. We had 8 courses and cheese, as said the eco system dish stood out for me, and the artistic approach to the Mediterranean cuisine with respect for the purity of ingredients. And the place has the most amazing view. Very romantic. Thank you Marielle & Dimitri 🙏🏼
