Le Courtois Cafe sur Nimes

Back again 2025. The new system for ordering and serving works well and the food and drink is as good as ever. Went back this June, 2022. Definitely improved service and pastries and drinks as good as ever. I wonder how the small staff would cope with a rush but pleased to see some return to form. My one-star review of a year or two back follows. What they serve is still pretty good but the service is laughably bad; rude, disinterested, error-prone. One can hardly believe that the managers of this place have let it slip so far from its former eminence in the vicinity.

Great place for brunch - had a delicious iced café au Lait with coconut milk and the eggs Benedict. The price was very reasonable. They made my bacon crispy just as I asked, which is not something a lot of places are willing to accommodate, so I was extremely grateful. All the staff we interacted with were lovely and kind. The negative reviews I saw seemed to come from entitled or impatient customers. We saw several ourselves who didn't seem to notice the signs on all the tables stating you need to order inside. The interior is beautiful anyways so it's a great opportunity to look at the original architecture. If we have time I'll definitely be back for another iced café! Thank you so much!

Always so delighted to eat in this legendary place. Music festival, song and music next to us, we enjoyed a Cévennes salad (goat cheese toast with honey, tapenade, duck breast and piece of fougasse) and a sublime raspberry tart (shortbread, almond and raspberry) and my husband enjoyed a cacao tree (caramel and dark chocolate cake). The waiters are very friendly. You are never disappointed at Courtois.

Very good quality pastries, without excessive prices. We will come back to try the dishes!

One of the 3 historic cafés in Nîmes with the Napoléon and the Café des Fleurs, 1850s atmosphere, a bit "in its own juice", it has its charm but for a place listed as a Historic Monument, we say that there is a refresh to be planned with their support. Lots of choice, traditional products and homemade, it is very appreciable, Orders are a bit complicated, you have to go to the counter and have found your place otherwise the service will look for you... You have to go there for the atmosphere and tell yourself that the service can always improve if the clientele is loyal, we recommend it so that it continues to exist

A tea room, ice cream parlor, and brunch spot, this historic café is an interesting place. The interior decor is very colorful, and the terrace is well-located. A friendly welcome and no waiting, even on Sunday around 1 p.m. A good selection of teas, ice creams, and fruit juices. The service is fast and friendly. A great place to go in Nîmes.

Stopped here for a late breakfast ( very few places were open) and we very much enjoyed our food. Beautiful interior and wonderful outdoor patio

Having arrived in Nîmes 18 months ago, it is an essential address in the center of Nîmes. I often come to have my coffee accompanied of a pastry. I'm never disappointed. Very warm welcome, lovely staff.

Hello to all readers, when I see certain posts/writings, I'm speechless. Some people don't know anything about the food industry. In all kitchens, people talk loudly, a bit like in the army; it's called discipline. I was employed for several years, where I did my apprenticeship, with a selection process for the best apprentices in France (MAF). My son is also there; we're certainly not at Mickey's, but nevertheless, everyone I knew at Courtois succeeded. Today, I'm a manager-owner in a pastry shop with my wife. And the others have succeeded too. I knew the era of workers, today no one... Running an establishment isn't easy, especially in France with the burden of expenses. Stop criticizing and trying to play at being a food critic; it can impact professionals financially and even close their doors. For my part, thank you to COURTOIS. A monument to Nîmes pastry. A place that lives up to its name, given the years of experience, a pastry shop with elaborate recipes that delight the taste buds and are a feast for the eyes.
