Le Diplomate sur Caen

While in Caen to visit the memorial, we had lunch at Le Diplomate restaurant. The dining room is very welcoming and the food delicious. The dishes are beautifully presented. Highly recommended!

A warm and genuine welcome. I didn't know about it; it was pure chance that I had my coffee there this morning, July 16th! So I came back for lunch. I saw regulars and then people just passing through, like myself. I recommend it, and it seems like a lucky break. Take care, friends of the Diplomatic Arts, and enjoy your visit.

A long, narrow brasserie. Always a warm welcome. Smiling owners. The fries are homemade, the portions are generous and delicious. Two daily specials and a wide selection on the menu. Small patio in the center of the brasserie for smokers. Worth trying for lunch, alone or with friends.

Le Diplo is one of those hidden gems, authentic spots that we adore in Caen. Behind this downtown brasserie lies a charming interior patio, a convivial atmosphere, and above all, two passionate owners, Johanna and Stéphane, who are deeply devoted to their craft. Mathieu, in the kitchen, offers delicious homemade cuisine: simple, generous, and excellent value for money. Jo, for her part, welcomes each customer with exceptional care. (It's impossible to resist her homemade pastries for dessert or an afternoon treat). Le Diplo is a lively spot all day long. Morning coffee with local shopkeepers, lunch with colleagues, a meal with friends or a romantic dinner, and then a relaxing drink at the end of the day. A genuine, warm, and truly human place. Clearly a must-visit in downtown Caen, well worth discovering… and recommending.

Places I go to regularly, from aperitifs to desserts, including coffee. The homemade desserts are excellent! The lunches are good too. They're open later on Fridays, so you can even grab a snack before dinner. Honestly, I recommend it to everyone. The owners are incredibly friendly, especially Boubou, who's always looking for cuddles. See you soon ;)
