Le Grill de la Gartempe sur Montmorillon

Lovely little outdoor restaurant, has a quirky way about it and the short menu is nice, thoroughly recommend the salads, even as an entree are good sized!

A lovely spot to enjoy good food with a beautiful view of the Gartempe River. The service was excellent and the food delicious, we had the Moules Frites which were perfect and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed our visit so much we reserved a table for the following week. An excellent setting and a welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to more visits over the summer 🙂

A beautiful terrace ideally located by the river, in the shade of large parasols or a thatched shelter. An extremely friendly team and very good value for money. Simple but well-done cuisine: good well-roasted andouillette, small salads with delicious goat cheese, a good little piece from the butcher + really nice desserts too (the raspberry soup is very refreshing and the waffle, chocolate whipped cream very crispy). In short, I recommend ☺️

The setting is pleasant, the value for money is reasonable but you should not be in a hurry, very slow service

Great new show not to be missed.

Everybody wants to get value for money and when you eat at Le Grill you get it but with a lot more on offer. Please understand that this is NOT fine dining in any way. Burgers, salads, moules, frites and kebabs are the basics. A burger with all the trimmings for 7.50 euros is simply "cheap as chips." AND it is 100% steak hache. Moist and flavourful just like the brochettes (kebabs). Pression is 2.50 euros for 25 cl. Wine comes in a range of carafe sizes. It is not Grand Cru stuff, but hits the spot on a warm evening. Limited deserts but a wide range of farmhouse ice creams. A chocolate fondant with fresh pear hidden inside is totally decadent (and whipped cream is no charge.) BUT BUT BUT Le Grill is set on a terrace beside the river with a great view of the town. And just to top things off, there is "son et lumiere" show at dusk. Fantastic value for adults and children alike. Please book your table for the best seats. I only give 4 * because it is not great cuisine and it is virtually self service
