LE MAHARAJAH sur Evreux

The food was very good and well-spiced. I'm giving it 3 stars because the tablecloth on our table was all stained and wet, and the smell of cigarettes was just unbearable (customers outside the restaurant were smoking in front of the open door, which was just okay).

Simply the best Indian restaurant I know! I'm of Indian origin and just passing through Evreux, as I'm from Paris. This unassuming restaurant stands out for the quality of its dishes! And especially for the presentation of the food directly on the plate, rather than in the traditional small dishes (which is what all Indian restaurants do). This gives it a professional, "French-style" feel. Of course, the blend of spices makes the dishes delicious. I loved the Chicken Xacutti. I sincerely recommend it without hesitation.

Overall, a decent experience at Maharajah in Évreux, though nothing truly memorable. The restaurant is well-located and the setting is quite pleasant. The decor is very well done and exotic, truly giving the impression of traveling. The welcome was adequate and the staff polite. However, the service left us with mixed feelings. We were the only customers at 8:30 pm and there was still no one else there when we left. We were seated at a table set apart, behind a wall, with no view of the dining room, the servers, or the kitchen. This made us feel somewhat isolated, with a rather long wait before our order was taken and then again between courses. The dishes were generally good, with a varied menu, but we expected more flavor and character. They were acceptable, but nothing particularly memorable. The portions were adequate. We ordered the set menus: starter, main course, and dessert. The starters and main courses were generally good, although the main course was extremely salty, which somewhat spoiled the experience. As for the dessert, I didn't enjoy it at all: very unusual and particularly sweet, which wasn't to my taste. In the end, we felt the prices were a bit high for the quality offered. It's a decent place to discover Indian cuisine in Évreux, but it didn't completely win us over.

A wonderful discovery thanks to The Fork at this lovely Indian restaurant. High-quality dishes with generous portions. The lamb is incredibly tender and the different naan breads are fantastic. Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely decor for this Indian restaurant. The service is courteous and friendly. The dish (tandoori chicken) was perhaps a little too salty, but still good. Delicious naan.
