Le Marrakech sur Castres

A must-try restaurant in Castres, open for over 35 years and still just as good, especially the various couscous dishes. My favorite is the couscous with grilled chicken skewers and lemon.

We were delighted by the welcome, the quality of the food, the generous portions, and the value for money. Our meal cost €55 for two people: drinks, two main courses (lamb couscous and a merguez sausage platter), and two desserts. We were able to take home the leftover couscous, which was very generous, in a neat doggy bag. We highly recommend this restaurant and will gladly return.

The couscous was good quality and tasty, but nothing special. I felt the pieces of meat (chicken in this case) could have been more generous, and above all, the price was too high for couscous (takeaway) of equivalent quality to what you can find at a market for much less.

A very convivial group meal in a suitable setting. Having family roots in Morocco, I much prefer the cooking of my mothers and grandmothers. The "tajine" was an assortment of incongruous vegetables (green beans, olives) that were barely simmered... Where were the apricots and prunes, caramelized after hours of cooking? The raisins weren't steamed with the couscous but simply served as is, to be added to the (otherwise excellent) semolina. The tea would have been more appropriate served with the cakes. A platter of assorted small pastries to share would have been appreciated rather than just one per person. In short, a pleasant evening, but improvements are possible! Thank you for your hospitality.
