Le Phenix sur Clermont-Ferrand

Excellent food! The dishes are delicious and generous, not too greasy, made with fresh ingredients—I love it. The restaurant doesn't look like much, but the talent is definitely there. The welcome and service are perfect.

This small restaurant in a rather unremarkable neighborhood is worth a visit, both for its food and its friendly service. The pho intrigued me, though I wasn't quite sure what to expect: slices of beef in the broth—surprising! But it was delicious, spicy but not overly so. The optional bean sprouts drizzled with lime juice are a perfect complement. I then ordered the cuttlefish with fragrant mushrooms and Cantonese rice, which was also very good, and for dessert, the flambéed banana with rum (not very Asian, but still...). The background music wasn't unpleasant, but it was a bit repetitive.

Having been a regular at this restaurant for about thirty years, it's always a pleasure to come and enjoy a delicious Vietnamese meal in a calm and peaceful setting. The food and service are always top-notch. Long live the Phoenix.
