Le Refuge Cartalavonu sur Porto-Vecchio

Having never had the chance to try this place, despite being islanders on the north side and being on holiday in the south, we decided to stop by. It was a wonderful discovery, starting with the location and the restaurant itself. We were served by a very friendly waitress who took excellent care of us, as well as all the other customers that day. The owner, also very friendly, came to check if everything was alright, if the food was good, and if there was enough of it. I must admit that being islanders meant we clicked immediately. My dish (stuffed eggplant) was so delicious that he ordered a second helping because I enjoyed it so much. From the charcuterie appetizer we shared to the main courses and desserts, everything was a delight. I had a coffee, and my wife and I enjoyed a digestif after a lovely and delicious meal. It's worth noting, and this is becoming increasingly rare, that coffee and after-dinner drinks were offered to us on the house, which was a nice touch, even if the final bill was rather high. However, considering everything we ordered, it was reasonable given the quality of the ingredients and the food. I highly recommend this place.

A typical restaurant with authentic cuisine and friendly service. You feel right at home, and the food is delicious, plentiful, and satisfying. It's a bit of a drive to get there, but you'll discover the real Corsica, far removed from tourist clichés.

Our host recommended this restaurant, and we were absolutely delighted. The place is very authentic, and the welcome was simply wonderful—the staff, waiters, and owner all came to chat with us in a friendly manner. The food was delicious; if you want to eat local, this is definitely the place to go. It's a bit of a drive, but it's well worth it. There's also a hiking trail starting right here, so you can enjoy a meal after your hike. 😜 Bring cash or a checkbook, as there's no credit card service. I recommend this place 1000%!
