Pleasant time with the family, very warm welcome, the prices are very correct, old style and neat setting, just a little disappointed with the white butter which looks more like a not very spicy cream sauce, and the juice with the lamb shank too much stock. veal and not seasoned enough we can't find the thyme which and announced the homemade foie gras and very good with a conflict of onions well made the whole rest of the meal was really very good
Rang and booked half an hour before we arrived as we drove past on the E402.
Great bavette. Nice glass of wine. Dogs behaved (and were welcome). All round a very nice and reasonable meal. Recommend.
The centre of Saint Saens is pretty with a couple of streams and worth a wander.
Always stop here for lunch on the way to/from Calais. Great quality food and service and great value. Nice location and easy to find. Definitely recommend.
Felt very welcome here despite our fairly poor French (although we try). We left the Autoroute to find somewhere of reasonable quality for lunch and this definitely ticked the box. I had the beef bourgignon, my wife had fish of the day and our teenage kids had a burger each. All the dishes were very nicely prepared and presented and tasted delicious. Had a nice view of the church and square from our table also. We would aim for this restaurant again if in the area. Definitely recommended 👌
30/05/2024: Only lunch served...don't even think of dinner! Fresh locally sourced food, reflecting the charm of Saint-Saens and Normandie cuisine and acceuil!
24/05/2024: Nous y allions avec plaisir ; nous y sommes retournés dernièrement et nous avons été déçu : le patron a décidé de ne plus présenter de poisson (les poissons de saison,maquereaux et saumonette sont à moins de 10€ -pour le particulier que je suis-
et quelque soit le plat que des frites et salade en accompagnement ; plus de légumes ; il semblerait qu'il n'y est plus la demande ; j'ai pris une brochette poulet/merguez : je n'ai pas reconnu le goût du poulet, tant la qualité était médiocre!!!
par contre, toujours le bon accueil mais l'accueil ne fait pas tout !
j'ai noté "moyen " et non pas "médiocre" pour la qualité gustative du hors d’œuvre pris : sardines fraîches grillées sur tartine grillée et salade, très bon ;
