Le Sexton Côté Mer sur Ver-Sur-Mer

Restaurant by the sea. Very slow service... the waiters are friendly. My salad was straight from the fridge, so it was clearly made in advance... It's a shame the bread doesn't come from a proper bakery; there's an exceptional one in Ver. We went last year, but we noticed a big change. It's a shame 😢

Hello, This is the only restaurant in Ver-sur-Mer. It's not far from the beach, which is convenient. There's a lovely shaded terrace (and yes, there is sunshine in Normandy!), the interior looks quite nice, but we didn't go in. The menu is very appealing, the food is good, and the price is quite reasonable. The service is also very pleasant. However, it only opens at 6 pm (closed between courses), and online it said it was open continuously, so we went... too early.

Since we didn't eat in, we were seated at unset tables in full sun. There was a parasol, but... Apart from that, a very nice and quiet place. You can eat in. The staff at the bar were welcoming. A minor complaint about the staff on the terrace.

The food was excellent; the mussels were perfect, as was the daily special. The only drawback was the communication between the dining room and the bar, which needs improvement. There was far too long a wait, and tables that arrived after us were served before us. They're clearly understaffed, unfortunately. We'll be back sometime.

We had oysters and a Caesar salad, everything was delicious, the service was good.

A restaurant on the coast with reasonable prices deserves a mention. They serve skate wing, pork cheek, and rabbit with mustard sauce, all well-prepared, and you don't feel like you're being ripped off when you pay the bill. Honestly, kudos for the value for money.

Reservation at 8 p.m. Upon arrival, the welcome was rather surprising: "What's the name on this? Oh... it's already crossed out!" We were seated, given menus, then waited about fifteen minutes for drinks, and another fifteen before our order was taken. We had plenty of time to memorize the menu. Observing the dining room, we got the impression of disorganized service, with the person taking orders constantly seeming overwhelmed. My partner ordered the mussels in cream sauce (available from April to October). The response: "I don't have any." Yet, we were there at the very beginning of service and nothing had been mentioned. So we looked at the menu a second time, simply hoping not to order another unavailable dish. We finally settled on the breaded chicken and fries. The chicken was good, but the side dish was really sparse: there was more salad than fries. Given the long wait, we decided to cut our meal short and forgo dessert. We paid the bill and left the restaurant with complete indifference. Unfortunately, it was an experience that did not impress us.

The service was a bit overwhelmed, but the food was very good.

I've been several times and always enjoyed it. Since the change of ownership, I'm very disappointed. I came a month ago (June 2026) and the wait was far too long for such a small number of customers. The food wasn't great, and the staff weren't very friendly. We won't be back, sorry.
