Restaurant that I knew almost 30 years ago now under the Taverne de maître Kanter brand, where I had the pleasure of going to rediscover with my son last night during a quick visit to Niort... Always so friendly, a place which in fact does not change over the years and where it is always a pleasure to go there...

A very nice restaurant, the waitresses are just as friendly...
(We were mainly served by: Maelis)
The suggestion of the moment "wild shrimp, parmesan risotto with white butter sauce" is a real treat...
What makes a 4 and not a 5 is (a small downside) the somewhat long time between the end of the meal and the serving of empty plates, between the dessert menu, the order as well as the service of them.. . While the restaurant did not seem overcrowded.
This in no way detracts from the quality of the dishes.

07/28 in the evening.
Passing through Niort to return from vacation, we went to La Taverne without reservation.
Very pleasant waitresses/waiters.
Well stocked dishes!

We have stopped in Niort as part of the route to rest, eat and continue with the route, we have chosen a restaurant. Reserve the night before just in case. IF YOU LIKE ALSACIAN FOOD, the flambees are very delicious! We missed them from our trip to Alsace in 2022 and the truth is that they were very good, and the dessert was kind of like French toast, very delicious. I totally recommend the restaurant, you can also book and you secure a place. Nothing crowded when we went but just in case
