We visited the premises and had tea in the workshop. It was a pure moment of relaxation, immersed in a Japanese atmosphere. It almost seemed like we were there! The service is of excellent quality.

one of the most beautiful places in Paris.
with a friend, we invited another friend and her husband to celebrate her birthday. the dishes are unparalleled in aesthetic, simple but tasty. for those who don't have the opportunity to eat in the restaurant, the tea shop is super beautiful and pleasant for having an iced tea or tasting wagashi. the exhibition space is magnificent and highlights Japanese artists and artisans.

One of the most MEMORABLE 🤩 meals of a lifetime!!!! And I lived in Japan for seven years!!!
The whole concept from top to bottom is nothing short of a design, shopping, service, and culinary triumph!
But…let’s talk food! You know it’s a phenomenal experience if just one dish lingers with you for days. That was the dessert here - the coconut matcha dessert was one I’ll come back to for over and over again.
The service, as one would expect, is very Japanese, even from the French!

Ogata's goal is to discover and appreciate the Japanese art of living. It is not just a restaurant but a place, created by a renowned Japanese architect and designer, Shinichiro Ogata. It includes a restaurant, a tea room and a shop. The entrance hall is very beautiful, high, overlooking the shop and the tea room. The restaurant is on the second floor.
We enter a room partitioned between the counter surrounding the kitchen and around ten tables to the side. Everything is stylish and elegant. The tables are made of a beautiful, nicely crafted solid black wood. Everything (furniture, utensils, etc.) is created by artisans from the Ogata firm. Even the soy flasks which are little copper masterpieces. The chef aims to introduce us to traditional Japanese family cuisine, we are far from the usual sushi restaurants. The starter consisting of 6 small dishes evokes kaiseki meals. The Tamago Yaki omelette is delicate, and the masterfully cooked sea bream is accompanied by numerous condiments arranged on a pretty platter, spring onions, traditional rice and a miso soup with an astonishing taste. The “matcha blancmange” is also very successful. A very good meal, for which we paid 149 Euros per person, with sake and wine, tea and two mineral waters.
A great Japanese experience!
A word of advice: prefer the counter to the tables when making your reservation; eating at a table remains very pleasant (we ate there), but you miss the chef's show, and the tables are long and quite close together, so you are closer to your neighbor on the left or right than to your table companion in face ;-)

Ogata is synonymous with Japanese aesthetics and taste experiences in Paris both at the restaurant counter (or in the dining room) - where the dishes are presented to us - and at the magnificent Sabo tea room where a personalized welcome was offered to us .
