Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this very typical sandwich shop at Valence train station! During a layover between Narbonne and Grenoble, where I was headed to see my niece Nadine, I was absolutely starving. I didn't get anything on the TGV because, firstly, the prices are exorbitant (€4.90 for a can of mediocre beer whose name I won't mention), and secondly, there's no way to check the quality of the food on Google (how convenient that mobile restaurant is, and it can't be geolocated. Believe me, I could say a lot, but we're not here to discuss the underhanded dealings of those gentlemen at SNCF). Anyway, back to the matter at hand. I had a delicious Dieppe-style sandwich; the freshness of the fish left me speechless. I don't know if the tuna actually came from Dieppe (I regretted it afterward because I didn't think to ask. If the answer turns out to be no, I'll lower my rating by one star), however, the catch was definitely fresh that day. If not, we can definitely say that technology works wonders, as the freshness and taste were both exceptional (I wouldn't go so far as to say I could hear the seagulls, but it did bring back a sweet memory from my youth with Sandra, my girlfriend at the time, on the port of Honfleur). I didn't try the rest of the dish, which seemed rather ordinary. I'm only giving 4 stars for the service because I found the bottle of water far too expensive (a little tip: buy it at the Relay next door and you'll save a few cents at your next restaurant). As for the atmosphere, I'd give it as many stars as a duck's feet that haven't broken, but I don't really see what kind of atmosphere I'm entitled to expect from a good sandwich shop. So this isn't a criticism of Paul at all. It's an excellent rating, and I must say I can be quite critical sometimes! Thank you for this experience. Yours in good taste, MM Table
