From the moment you step inside, your senses are awakened. The subtle aroma of wood fire and charcoal deliciously fills the air, immediately setting the tone for the meal.
The ambiance: It's the perfect balance between the charm of a traditional coaching inn and a carefully curated contemporary touch. Raw materials (wood, stone, metal) create a cozy, almost timeless atmosphere, where you immediately want to linger for hours.
Cleanliness: Despite the charcoal fire in the kitchen (which is a beautiful sight!), the dining room is impeccably clean. The tableware is heavy and high-quality, and the tables are set with great taste.

The house specialty is charcoal grilling, and the chef has mastered this technique. The smoky flavors enhance each ingredient without ever overpowering it:
The starter: We shared a charcoal-grilled bone marrow with parsley and garlic, along with smoked seasonal vegetables. A hearty starter, rich in flavor, with that unique smoky touch that makes all the difference.
The dish (the highlight of the meal): A perfectly aged ribeye steak, seared on the outside with a beautiful caramelized crust, and incredibly tender and juicy on the inside. It was accompanied by homemade fries cooked in beef fat and a truly divine gratin dauphinois. You can taste the respect for the product and the farmers.
The dessert: Even the sweets are given a fiery makeover! The toasted French toast, served with salted caramel ice cream, was a monument of comforting indulgence.

To complement such cuts of meat, a wine list of equal caliber was essential. Le Relais Charbon offers a superb selection, showcasing wines with character (magnificent Côtes-du-Rhône, terroir-driven Languedoc, and gems from the Southwest).

The dishes arrive piping hot, the pace is excellent, and the servers know the origin of every cut of meat inside and out. We felt pampered from beginning to end.
