Tonight we tried La Gare restaurant, an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring French cuisine, located in a former train station. Overall, the food was good: we enjoyed the dishes on offer and nothing really disappointed us in terms of taste. However, we did find the hot dishes a bit too salty overall. On the other hand, we found the selection of appetizers rather limited. This is a shame for an all-you-can-eat buffet, where one expects more variety. As for the desserts, they weren't bad, but we found them quite basic and not really up to the standard one would expect from a buffet of this type. Perhaps they lacked a bit of choice and, above all, quality or originality. But the main negative point for us was the atmosphere. We arrived around 7 p.m., when the restaurant was practically empty, with only two tables occupied. And above all, there was a really oppressive silence. We could hear almost nothing but the clinking of cutlery and the conversations of the few other tables present, which made the atmosphere rather cold and unwelcoming. We even asked the waitress if it would be possible to simply play some background music to make the ambiance more pleasant. She explained that the restaurant's concept was precisely to operate without music, with only the occasional sound of a passing train. We understand the concept, but personally, we felt it detracted from the experience. Discreet background music would have really helped to warm up the atmosphere. In short: the French cuisine was generally good and enjoyable, but the selection of appetizers was somewhat limited, the desserts rather disappointing, and above all, the atmosphere was far too quiet and cold for our taste. The concept is original, but a few adjustments could really make the experience more pleasant.

A great, delicious stop on the way back from the coast! We stopped for lunch at Resto Buffet La Gare on our way north. It was a wonderful find! The restaurant is conveniently located right in the Avignon Nord (Le Pontet) commercial area, just a couple of minutes from the A7 motorway exit. The perfect place to take a break, enjoy a delicious meal, and save time. What we especially liked: * French cuisine in a buffet format: In the last 10 years of our road trips through France, this is the first time we've experienced and "tasted" this culinary format! Buffets are usually associated with Asian cuisine, but here it's a full buffet with traditional French dishes, regional appetizers, and classic desserts. A very interesting and high-quality experience. * Impressive selection: A huge selection of fresh hot and cold French appetizers, meat and fish dishes, and a well-stocked dessert counter. Everything is constantly replenished, and the food is fresh and delicious. * Atmosphere and interior: Unique and very charming design with a railway and train car theme. The interior is clean, spacious, and cozy. * Lunch hours: We arrived at 2:05 PM. The buffet is restocked and offers a selection of dishes until 2:30 PM, and you can sit and dine in the dining room until 3:00 PM. * Payment: Payment is made at the checkout after your meal. 💡 Price range (Buffet à volonté): * Weekday lunch (Midi du lundi au vendredi): ~€15.90 – €16.90 per person. * Saturday lunch (Samedi midi): €21.50 per person. * Dinners and holidays (Soirs, dimanches & jours fériés): ~€23.90 per person. * Children's menu (up to 12-13 years): ~€10.90 (very young children are free).

Very good all-you-can-eat roadside restaurant, the staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is superb, and for €17.90 it's worth it.

We came to eat on Monday, September 7th, and what a fantastic discovery! We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The dishes were delicious, beautifully presented, and above all, expertly prepared. A huge congratulations to the chef! You can really tell he loves his work and puts his heart into everything he cooks. The cooking is perfectly executed, the seasonings are spot on, and each dish is prepared with great care. He's clearly a chef who makes a difference and deserves to be congratulated for his work. We even had a chance to chat with him; he was incredibly pleasant and attentive to his customers. The service was also very enjoyable, and the atmosphere was friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning!

As for the service, we had a particularly pleasant and smiling waiter. The only minor point for improvement was that he spoke rather softly, which sometimes made conversations difficult to hear, especially in a lively dining room. However, this is a small detail, as his demeanor was very professional and friendly. In short, this is a place worth discovering and a delightful surprise for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. It offers a good balance of variety, quality, and atmosphere. We will gladly return!
