Restaurant Les Voiles d'Or sur Dieppe

I highly recommend Les Voiles d'Or. A warm welcome, dishes and products that are all equally delicious. An explosion of flavors in every bite. A calm and relaxed atmosphere; thank you for your hospitality and kindness.

The meal was dazzling, the service both professional and relaxed; the table and chairs were comfortable, and the dining room was inviting. This year, my wife and I dined at three Michelin-starred restaurants (one star) and one two-star restaurant here in Normandy, as well as a three-star restaurant in Hong Kong. The flavors, composition, and overall balance of taste at this meal proved to be the best of all. We opted for the most complete menu, accompanied by two half-bottles of wine. The rolls served were, by far, the best I have eaten since moving to France four years ago. They were, in fact, simply perfect. We did, however, find the purées accompanying the lobster starter a bit bland. They seemed a little flat, almost lifeless, amidst a whirlwind of otherwise perfectly harmonious flavors. This was, truly, a minor detail in an otherwise brilliant meal. We greatly appreciated the owner's hospitality and service, as well as the chef's incredible talent. In short, a meal that exceeded our expectations in every way. Thank you for this wonderful meal.

We were particularly surprised to learn that Les Voiles d’Or restaurant had been awarded a star, as our experience there seemed to fall far short of the standards this distinction is supposed to represent. A Michelin star usually evokes a cuisine marked by a strong identity, impeccable technical mastery, and an attentive and refined dining experience. During our visit, these elements unfortunately seemed to be lacking. The welcome was lukewarm and sometimes clumsy, creating a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere from the outset, far removed from the professionalism and elegance one has the right to expect from an establishment distinguished by the Michelin Guide. In the kitchen, the dishes were decent but uneven: sometimes unbalanced proportions, some imprecise cooking, and, above all, a lack of depth and creativity. While the cuisine remained honest, it lacked the precision and culinary signature one expects from a starred restaurant. The surprise was all the greater when the bill arrived, as it seemed particularly high considering the actual quality of the food. Overall, the experience felt more like a good bistro than a true gastronomic destination worthy of such recognition.
