Subaco sur Paris

It's always a pleasure to come to Subaco, and I always want to order everything on the menu!

The service was very friendly and the food delicious; we ordered everything on the menu and it was all perfectly executed! I loved it! Special mention for the silken tofu and the salmon with fennel.

A great place to unwind, just behind Notre-Dame de Clignancourt. The kitchen and dining room staff were entirely Nepalese this lunchtime, but the food was good, even authentic: gyoza, karaage with a Korean flair (gochujang-type sauce), and a good tonkotsu ramen soup. Refreshing Archipel kombucha with fig leaves. Two excellent sakes were also available: my favorite, the Kitajima Natural, showcases Wataribune, a local rice variety rediscovered by Kitajima. This sake, both powerful and delicate, sophisticated yet wild, is produced through a long, low-temperature fermentation without charcoal filtration; its lactic texture is complemented by a salty and spicy flavor. The other sake I tasted, the fluid Miyasaka Masumi Shiro White, expresses the purity of water; it has a touch of sweetness and notes of vanilla yogurt and white flowers. I also popped into the "annex" Uroco, a lovely Japanese tapas restaurant that's only open in the evenings, where I chatted with the owner, Yuka, who's originally from Osaka. I'll have to come back to try their more varied and delicate dishes. To avoid heading back down to central Paris too quickly, bus number 40 on Rue Hermel goes directly to Place du Tertre and Saint-Pierre de Montmartre.

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was exceptional and the portions were very generous. You can tell they put a lot of care into the presentation of every dish. On top of that, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Very good Japanese food and prices are fair.
