Passing through, arriving from Montreal, Quebec, visiting family and rediscovering a truly excellent place. What a pleasure! The staff and welcome were incredibly friendly. Very reasonable prices, excellent food, perfect portions—pure bliss! Jean and Didier had a fantastic lunch. We'll be back on my next visit to Rouen. Thank you to the whole team.

It's always a pleasure to come and enjoy a signature dish of the house (tripe or calf's head with gribiche sauce). Le Veau d'Or is an institution.

02/04/2026: A must-visit in Rouen. The owner is quite a character. The food is bursting with flavor.
12/03/2026: A wonderful welcome...the quality of the products was superb...I recommend the sweetbreads...a gastronomic dish...tastefully and visually, a dish worthy of a Michelin star, it's almost perfect. Thank you. Wilfried Lemesle.

19/05/2026: I was worried this would be a stuffy dining experience and I was pleasantly surprised! The main dining room was homey with a gorgeous 1300’s fireplace. The service was jovial and non-judgmental. We didn’t order the duck but was got to watch it being prepared twice. What a treat! The food was phenomenal! It did take nearly 3 hours for the full four course service and it was worth the time and the $$. It’s soooo much more than ‘Julia Childs’ inspiration’.
