During my dinner on August 12th, I noted several points during the evening:
Reservation and reception: The one-hour delay agreed upon during my second call had not been recorded in the reservation book. This resulted in a rather unpleasant remark from the person at reception.
Service and food: The waitstaff was responsive, friendly, and professional. As for the food, the beef was good (although the requested "rare" was not cooked to perfection), the duck breast was average, and the fries were just okay. However, the salad and its dressing were excellent. It's unfortunate to have a set sauce and not be able to choose (e.g., blue cheese sauce, shallot sauce, etc.).
Space and ambiance: The restaurant is well laid out, clean, spacious, and allows for an intimate dinner for two. On the other hand, the tables seem a bit small to accommodate all the dishes.
The QR code offer and complaint handling:
The recently implemented QR code discount system needs to be reviewed. It's not clearly stated that the promotion applies to a future visit and not to the same day. I politely mentioned this when paying. The exchange became irritating when the cashier, while understanding my point, snapped at me, "You don't need to tell me anything."
She then explained that leaving a Google review was required to benefit from the discount, adding, "It's a sales tactic; you can delete it later. The discount is valid throughout France, and you can share it with a friend."
I find this approach very questionable: it oversells the service and resembles the methods used by large retailers to push consumption, which is quite unacceptable for a restaurant. My intention during this exchange was absolutely not to be aggressive towards the staff, but simply to provide constructive feedback. Without this incident and this attitude, I would probably have left a very good review to qualify for the discount. But given the facts and the employee's behavior, I prefer to express my feelings honestly.
In short: Overall, the experience is still acceptable, but the value for money needs improvement. I recommend this establishment in general, but for me, this episode doesn't particularly make me want to return.
